Racing Action from Auburndale

Saturday Auburndale Speedway had some "Awesome" races, with alot of lead changes, and amazing endings to some of the nights action.

The 50 lap Limited Late Model race got off to a good start and kept going with no cautions in this one. In the front to start the race was # 45 Sam Cressman and # 00 Ronnie Heard. Wesley Bass # 63 and Heard were side-by-side for a couple laps until Bass moved into the second spot and # 21 Von Pope went under Heard for the third spot. Heard slipped up and that allowed # 65 Ollie Harbin and # 54 Steve Black to move into the top five. With 6 laps to go Pope pulls in the infield with minor smoke coming from his car and then the last lap second place Bass slowed coming off of turn four allowing Harbin to pass him at the line for second, Bass had his distributor melt on him causing him to slow. But nobody could pass Cressman and he went on to win with Harbin second and Bass third. Cressman was also fast qualifier with a lap time of 14.391.

Mini Stocks had a great race and alot of passing. On the start # 87 Bobby Judah got spun around and had a complete restart. Taking the lead from the start was # 90 Randy Storer, Burt Morse # 88 second and # 66 Donnie Lockard third. With a couple laps in the book # 38 Mike Margotta spun on the frontstretch hitting the wall driver side, but was alright. Restart had Lockard going high in turn two and dropping 5 positions meanwhile # 9 Robbie Storer was up to the top five and # 77 Lee Davis passed Lockard and # 76 Ken Lawrence to move up to sixth after starting last then he passes # 97 Brian Dorer for the fifth spot. Wasn't long and Robbie Storer took the lead over his Uncle Randy Storer, Marty Neikens # 70 was up to the top five, trying to get around Morse but Morse got under Randy Storer for second, Neikens and Davis followed dropping Randy Storer to fifth. Niekens broke a motor and stalled in turn four ending his night. Restart lap 17 The top were Robbie Storer, B! urt Morse, Lee Davis, Brian Dorer and Scott Sharpe. Davis put a move on Morse for the second spot but again for the fifth straight time Robbie Storer took the win , Davis second and Morse third. Now there is a bounty on Storer, $25 a week until someone beats him.

V-8 Street Stocks had 18 cars in this race. On the start # 32 David Holland took to the front, meanwhile # 16 David Purvis got tapped by # 75 Carl Thompson and Purvis spun, caution Purvis to the rear, Thompson kept his position. Then alittle rain shower came pausing the race for a bit, then it was back to racing. Holland still up front and Thompson and # 65 Brian Harbin tangle and both spin, Harbin went to the pits with damage, and Thompson to the rear. Restart Holland, # 00 Rodney Peterson, and # 99 Jason Deaton the top three. Holland the leader got spun by Peterson and Peterson was put to the rear, Holland back up front moving # 40 Mike Pitts into the top three. James Calhoun # 28 spun and collected Brian Harbin, Harbin returning after another wreck from before but that one ended his night. On the restart Holland leading got alittle side-ways on his own and Deaton tapped him coming out of turn two, officials put Deaton to the rear, and Holland back up front for the second ! time. Thompson passed # 81 Roy Wilshire for the fifth spot, # 66 Wesley Harbin spun in turn four but kept going, trying to avoid him Deaton lost control and spun on the front stretch, caution again, top three were Holland, Pitts, and # 7 David Williams, closing laps # 68 Mike Wilson went to the inside of Williams to finish third, Mike Pitts second, and Holland taking the win.

The 4-Cyl-Bombers had more cars in there race this week also, with a side-by-side battle for the lead for several laps between # 3 Terry Jones and # 96 Larry Chumney II. Keith Shirah moved past # 31 Donnie Guy and # 1 David Jouppi to put him in fourth spot, behind # 38 Jerry Winfield running third. Shirah and Jouppi side-by-side for the fourth spot then Jouppi made the pass, lap 6 Shirah pulled in, moving Donnie Guy back into the top five. Next lap Chumney finally made the pass for first around Jones, and Jouppi going for third nailed Winfield in the rear, and Winfield kept control but lost a couple spots because of it. Chumney went on to win with Jones second and Jouppi third.

Super Stocks was a race that wasn't over "Till the fat lady sang". It had 6 lead changes and ended up having the driver who started 17th winning and second place started last in 18th. Paul Gibbs # 2 took the lead from the start, with # 00 Shawn Harper and # 56 James Wright III side-by-side for second. Caution for # 13 Aaron Williamson slow on the track, restart top three were Gibbs, Harper, and Wright running third Wright made the move around Harper for second, with # 62 Travis Wilson moving up to third, Wright went to the outside of Gibbs for the lead, meanwhile # 63 Chris Kingham went under Harper for fourth spot and # 80 Dustin Breeden followed, coming out of turn two Breeden and Kingham tangled and Kingham ended up head on into the back stretch wall, ending his night. Breeden was put to the rear for the re-start on lap 6, Wilson went to the inside of Gibbs for second spot, then Wilson went under Wright for the lead, meanwhile Harper taps Gibbs sending him around causing ! # 01 Chris Lewellen to hit the wall in turn two, Gibbs bumper was hanging off, he had to go to the pitts to take it off, and returned to the race. Top three Wilson, Wright, and Harper # 28 Scott Gullett hit the wall hard in turn three with something breaking on his car, restart lap 16, Wilson leading went high and Wright got underneath him for the lead, Wilson bumped him and Wilson reassumed the lead, Wright returned the favor and they spun in turn two, both having to go to the back for the restart this moved Harper into the lead, # 12 David Williamson second and Breeden third. On the restart Williamson running second broke something on the right front suspension and slowed in turn four moving # 16 R.J. Williams into the top three. The leader Harper broke on the restart, moving # 08 Jim Orisich into the top three, and Breeden into the lead after having to come from the rear. Restart Gibbs moved around # 51 Randy Shearer for fourth spot, meanwhile Breeden breaks handing the l! ead to R.J. WIlliams and with only a couple laps to go Williams takes his first win with Orisich second and Gibbs third after starting in the rear.
