Bo Davis Gets First Win At Auburndale

By Billie May
Auburndale Speedway had a Test and Tune Day Saturday afternoon with a pretty good crowd on hand. They had a Figure-8 race plus, Demo-Derby. They had a couple people run their own vehicles in a fans race just for fun.

The Figure-8 race was scheduled for regular Figure-8 cars but only had one ready to race. So the Mini-Stock drivers were asked if they would want to do it and they all agreed to. So they took to the track with # 01 Donnie Howell one the pole and # 33 David Fair on the outside front row, Bo Davis # 67 started 3rd, and # 96 Mark Montero fourth. Only running 10 laps, # 33 David Fair took to the front, with Donnie Howell second, Bo Davis , and Mark Montero (running a 4-cylinder Pure Stock).

Donnie Howell and Bo Davis were side-by-side for a couple laps battling back and forth for the second position, until Donnie Howell slipped up and Bo Davis got underneath him. David Fair was unchallenged until Bo Davis caught up with him and put pressure on for the lead, with about 3 laps to go Bo Davis got on the outside of David Fair which the next corner put # 67 Bo Davis on the inside and he took the lead and won.

His first ever victory and it came in a race he never thought he would run ! in, followed by # 33 David Fair, # 96 Mark Montero and # 01 Donnie Howell. We should extend our "Thanks" to these guys for putting on a show for us!

The Demo-Derby consisted of 10 cars. Lots of good hits and even one exploded into flames, trying to re-start his car. It looked like the fuel line came off, very scary moment but Ralph Murchie was fine. The winner was # 686 Charlie Brower.

The regular racing season starts on March 2, 2002 with all the classes running including: Limited Late Models, Mini- Stocks, Super Stocks, V-8 Street Stocks, Open Wheel Modifieds, and 4-cyl. Bombers. Best Appearing car contest for the first night of regular racing season, and the points start that night also.

Come join us, I know our drivers are ready to go RACING!!
