Racing returns to New Smyrna Speedway this Saturday Night

by Jane Smith

Samsula, Fla. (January 8, 2006) Are you ready to go racing, do you need some speed in your diet. Well, this Saturday night, January 14, there will be plenty of racing for everyone as the Riverfest 250 takes the spotlight. One hundred laps of Super Late Model action with Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock, Strictly Stock, and Pro Trucks. Something for every race fan.

In 2005, it was Jeff Choquette who topped the 21 Super Late Model field. Choquette set fast time with a 17.889 and pulled the 0 pill followed by Wayne Anderson 18.020, Justin Drawdy 18.035, Barry Willoughby 18.112 and Chet Morrison 18.153. Once again it was a duel between Choquette and Anderson with each taking the lead at different points with Choquette finally take the lead where it counts the most, on the last lap.

A large field of cars is expected for this Saturday night since racers need to race and this is the first race of the year for FASCAR and New Smyrna Speedway. A few Super Late Models will also be testing their cars for Speedfest at USA International which happens at the end of January. Even a few Northern cars that run the World Series may be at the Riverfest 250.

Pit gates will open at 2 pm with practice for the Super Lates from 3 to 4 with division practice to follow. Qualifying for the 100 lap Super Late Model race will begin at 6:30 with racing action at 7:30 pm. Admission is $15.00 general admission, $10.00 for students and seniors and children 11 and under FREE.

So if you need some speed in your diet, make sure to be at New Smyrna Speedway this Saturday night for plenty of racing action.

New Smyrna Speedway is located between SR44 and SR416 between I-4 and
I-95 in beautiful Samsula, Florida.
