Yoakam Gets Win; Deschamps Is Crowned Mini Stock Champ

KARNAC Staff Report

The final race of the Mini Stock Challenge Series was run at New Smyrna Speedway Saturday night, with 29 cars taking the green flag. Within minutes of the start the skies opened up with a brief but heavy rain shower, leading to an extended red flag situation while the track was dried.

After the race was restarted, Robbie Yoakam of Hernando didn't take long to get command and stayed in control to take the checkered flag ahead of Zephyrhills ace Robbie Storer.

Dunellon, Fl's Clint Foley and Brian Dorer of Winter Haven swapped paint for fifteen laps keeping the fans entertained during the middle of the race.

Super Late Model and Late Model racer Steve Dorer drove the #97 car to a fourth place finish.

Series Champion Dustin Deschamps of Brooksville had the 2005 Mini Stock Crown locked up prior to the race. Deschamps was running up front and challenged for the lead but his motor blew up with a dozen laps remaining.
