FASCAR Pro Trucks and Sportsman Rumble at USA International

By John Berti

Jamie Skinner Outruns Matt Martin For Victory

The FASCAR Pro Trucks followed the Sunbelt Series at USA International Speedway for their 50 lap feature with James Wright III on the pole. Wright led the first 16 laps giving the lead up to Matt Martin the 12 year old son of NASCAR Nextel Cup star, Mark Martin.

Martin stayed in command through lap 36 when Jamie Skinner, the son of NASCAR driver Mike Skinner, took the top spot.

Todd Bontrager moved into the top three with ten laps remaining. He began to apply pressure to Martin. While battling for position Bontrager made contact with Martin on lap 46 sailing Martin into the front stretch infield.

At the checkers it was Skinner for the win followed by Bontrager, Wright, Tom Schvette and Marty Wolf.

It was now time for the USA International Speedway inaugural appearance, in feature competition, of the Highland Homes Southern Sportsman Series.

James Wright, doing double duty on the night, was once again the pole sitter. He went from there to lead the first 14 laps of the 35 lap feature.

Once again Wright would be denied a victory as on lap 15 he was passed by Patrick Thomas who went on for the win.

Derek Heath made an interesting race of it, but had to settle for second. Wright recorded yet another third. Kyle Tenbusch and Travis Nichols rounded out the top five.
