NASCAR Diveristy Program Spills Over to Florida Racing

Jessica Green set to debut for 14 year old team owner Marc Davis

By Rick Bristol

Orlando FL. - Jessica Green from Kathleen, Florida will debut a FASTKIDS truck May 28th at Charlotte County Speedway. She will be driving for Roush diversity development driver Marc Davis.

Davis, who competed in 2004 on the FASTKIDS series, was chosen as Roush's first African American diversity driver. He is competing on the UARA Late Model series in the Carolinas this season. Davis is just fourteen years of age.

Jessica Green who has amassed a great record on the Racing for Kids Club program with wins and a number of top five finishes. She is also just 14 years of age. Davis recently called and asked Jessica to drive his truck.

Davis drives a Ford Taurus Late Model owns the truck and also has started his own foundation to promote teen driving safety and networks with teens. He is a two time Legends car champion and is learning a lot about the racing business at Roush.

"This has been a dream come true for me and I am having a great time, Davis said recently. "I chose Jessica because she is a good driver who is getting better all the time. The FASTKIDS and FASTRUCK series are very competitive, Jessica can hold her own with the boys and will be a contender after she gains that experience" stated Davis.

Jessica is the daughter of veteran official and former driver Carl Green, has learned a lot from her dad and is excited about the opportunity. "Rick I am so honored that Marc chose me to drive his truck. Dad has worked very hard and has the truck ready to go for Charlotte County. I just want to go there and gain some experience and began to learn these trucks. We will be testing this week at Auburndale and try to speed the learning curve just a little" says Green.

Davis, who has experience is quarter midgets, Jr. dragsters, bandoleros, legends and trucks, has a promising career ahead. He wants to give others the same chance, that's why he has chosen a young lady to wheel his truck and giver her the opportunity to advance too.

"I am very blessed to have this opportunity and I want to give back to others as well. There are many great young drivers that just need a break like I got. I am going to try to make that happen for Jessica" added Davis.

Jessica will begin her FASTKIDS career at a track where she has already won in the 4 cylinder kids division her first time at the track. She dominated that event, but knows the competition in FASTKIDS is at a higher level and she will have to work very hard for it. Jessica will look to race more races including her home track for Kids Club racing Auburnale where she has lots of laps. "I really feel we can do well at Auburndale I have learned a lot about getting around that little track" added Green.

Her biggest obstacle will be going from a 4 cylinder 2300 pound car to a nearly 3000 pound race track with more power but many that have watched her don't feel that will take her to long to figure out.

Jessica will carry sponsorship on her truck from Century Plumbing, who has been with her from her first race, JRE Racing and several individuals who have helped her get what she needs to be ready to race.

This young lady has a great opportunity ahead and thanks to a young racer who also has a great future ahead she will get the chance to prove herself.

Watch for Marc Davis and Jessica Green to be talked about for years to come in the world of racing.
