Jamie Skinner won the first ever FASCAR Pro Truck race at New Smyrna Speedway
The FASCAR Pro Trucks will have their first 2005 Series race this Sunday at Desoto Super Speedway in the annual Icebreaker 150.
Jamie Skinner of Daytona recently won the Winter Heat Truck Championship at New Smyrna Speedway in the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing. Expect to see Skinner be a top runner this Sunday.
Troy Snipes is the Series Director for the newly formed Pro Truck Series.
Snipes, 41, is a lifelong resident of Volusia County who has extensive officiating experience. He has served in multiple tech and official capacities with NASCAR during an eight-year career. The FASCAR position will allow him to utilize his experience without extensive road trips.
"I'm genuinely excited about this opportunity," said Snipes. "I'm all about these drivers and these crews and I'm all about safety. I want the guy who pulls into the pits last with an open trailer to feel like he has just as much of a chance as the guy who brought his equipment in with an 18-wheeler."
On Saturday, February 26, there will be practice from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with free camping at the Speedway.
The trucks are scheduled to go 50 laps for $1,000 to win. Desoto Hoosier tires only, must purchase 5 gallons of fuel and a $50.00 entry fee is required.
On Sunday, February 27, the pit gates will open at 9 a.m. with tech opening at 9:30 a.m.
Practice will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Main gates open at 12:00 noon with the Driver's Meeting at 12:30 p.m. Qualifying will be at 1 p.m. with racing to start at 2 p.m.
