Corteco Gaskets / GulfCoast Modifieds Set To Crown Champion at Re-opening of Charlotte County Speedway !

By Rick Warren

Make your plans now! This Saturday night the Corteco Gaskets / GulfCoast Modifieds roll into Charlotte County Speedway to join in the celebration as this tough race track begins again.

Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, Charlotte County Speedway will be known as the race track that even Mother Nature couldn’t stop. With the help of countless friends and volunteers, the Davidson family has made a Herculean effort to bring this race track back to operation after hurricane winds leveled most of the facility.

The GulfCoast Modifieds are very happy to be included in this event, and have eagerly anticipating the race.

This race will be the last of this years series, and will determine the champion of The Corteco “White Seal” Gaskets / GulfCoast Modifieds , and also the Rookie of the Year.

Mike Hinegardner is the current leader, with good showings at the last 2 races. Lee Collins is a scant 69 points out of the lead. Collins, the point leader earlier in the season, has been plagued with bad luck the last 2 races, but appears to be ready to make an all out run for the championship in the final race.

Chris Escott has been making steady progress all year, and has fought and clawed his way to third place in the point standings, and stands a great chance of a good finish in this event. Hinegardner also leads in the Rookie of the Year standings, with a great crop of Rookies right on his heels.

The racers are primed and loaded for bear. They all know that this will be the last opportunity to gain points, and grab some of the cash that is waiting in the points fund. The series Champion will walk off with a cool $5,000 payoff.

Several racers are still within striking distance, and they know that this race is for all the marbles. It promises to be a great race. In the 7 races so far, their has been 7 different winners, 6 different fast qualifiers, and 7 different drivers have received the hard charger award.

You don’t want to miss this one! Come on out to Charlotte County Speedway this weekend for some great Florida Short Track racing, help celebrate the resurrection of this great speedway! See you there !!!
