FASTRUCKS Changes Management | Bobby Diehl Steps Down From Series
The embattled FASTRUCKS racing series issued a press release today announcing the resignation of Promoter Bobby Diehl from the day to day operation of the series.
This release comes in the wake of severe criticism over the handling of the series and scheduling conflicts in recent weeks.
The text of the press release is as follows:
Effective today, November 19, 2004 Billy Barstow of Lakeland has taken over all operations of the FASTRUCK Racing Series. Barstow on an interim basis will co-ordinate with the FASTRUCK team owners on the day to day operational business of the series.
Bobby Diehl, owner and promoter of the series, is stepping down in order allow to spend more time with his family and other personal matters, and let others handle the series he created. "It is time for me to step aside and let someone else run the show, I will not be active in any officiating capacity in the future." Diehl said.
The FASTRUCK Series will refocus the series and get back to its roots as as "affordable truck racing series", providing an opportunity for the budget conscious racer to compete at a high level with an emphasis on a strong family atmosphere.
The series will be running in 2005 at Charlotte County Speedway, Auburndale Speedway, Hialeah Speedway, and negotiations are going forward with several other race tracks.
According to Barstow he and several team owners are in the process of exploring changes to the series to lower the cost to the drivers, as well as for the tracks.
"Bobby Diehl has done a fantastic job over the years, but it is time for a change of direction for the series," Barstow said. "We want to go forward and create a strong foundation for the future, co-exist with other racing series and tracks and get back to being an economical series and be for the racer."
