| Mike Dezarn Joins East Bay Raceway Park Ownership Team | by Bill Green
 Tampa, FL (Sept. 14th, 2004)- On The 2nd Anniversary of 2VHL Promotions, Mike Dezarn, a longtime East Bay fan and local business owner, has purchased original co-owner Fred Lay's ownership stock. The ownership change was announced Monday to East Bay's staff.
Fred Lay's family and increased construction business commitments have recently prevented his involvement with the day-to-day track operations.
"An opportunity came along with a person who has experience in racetrack management in the past; I felt Mike's knowledge and resources could take East Bay to the next level". Fred stated, but he assured everyone he would stay involved as much as possible. "I will continue to market the track through local public relations projects including school and civic groups. I do a lot of local volunteer work, so I want to continue to use East Bay and racing, as a tool to connect with the youth in our communities. All the owners and now the new owner, have been friends for a long time and I will continue to be a resource for the management team whenever they call.
Mike Dezarn is known by most of the racers at East Bay as the co-owner of Speed Pros, with partner Steve Black. Speed Pros is a race car fabrication and parts shop located in Auburndale, Florida. Few racers are aware that Mike also owns Precision Wallboard of Polk County, a drywall and construction contracting business.
Mike will bring his very enthusiastic and futuristic thinking to his new ownership opportunity. Mike has also been involved in the Florida Mini Stock Challenge and Southern Sportsman Series with Todd & Debbie Hutto. In the past, Mike has had experience with the operation of Auburndale Speedway and is looking forward to becoming involved in the operation of East Bay Raceway Park.
This is one of those bittersweet business decisions that is not enjoyable, but is absolutely necessary. Fred and his family have been wonderful partners to work with and without their work and dedication; we would not have been able to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary. Fred's main focus has been his family and construction company, which has really left little time for the race track." Stated Al Varnadore, President of 2VHL Promotions, Inc. "Mike will bring a fresh perspective and help us continue to make East Bay Raceway Park a stronger and more enjoyable racing experience.
Along with the ownership changes, East Bay Raceway Park also announced the overhaul of the racing schedule for the remainder of the 2004 season.
"We've lost so many weekends to the rains and storms, we thought we'd kick off this next clear weekend by racing all 7 regular classes in a features only show." continued an excited Al Varnadore. "Some of these racers have not been on the track for almost 2 months, we want to give them a chance to get back at it as soon as possible."
