January 7, 2004 Charlotte Begins Points Racing On Sunday Jan. 18 By Claude Lewis Charlotte County Speedway will bring back winter stock car racing beginning on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 18. This will give seasonal residents an excellent chance to catch action on the 3/8-mile semi-banked paved oval. The Jan. 18 card will mark the beginning of the 2004 points season at CCS. There are nine divisions scheduled to race headlined by a 100-lap feature for the Limited Late Models. Also on the card are Sportsman, Super Stocks, Road Warriors, Thunder Trucks and 4-Cylinders. There are three special guest divisions also scheduled for Jan. 18. There will be the Outlaw Modifieds, a 4-cylinder cousin of the larger Open Wheel Modifieds. The Outlaw Modifieds are a touring series that visit short tracks across Florida. This will also be their season opener. Also running will be Dwarf cars and Pro Cup cars. Charlotte County Speedway will run on Sunday afternoons beginning up until March when the weather warms and the track can resume its Saturday night programs. The front gate will open at noon Jan. 18 and racing is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults, $13 for senior citizens and $5 for children ages 12 and under.
