GREG LEONARD TAKES J D BYRIDER MAIN

Tampa Florida August 11, 2001 - Frank Carlsson Jr. led the starting field to Kenny Marshall's green flag in the 25 lap J D Byrider SPRINT CAR main. Carlsson held the top spot for only 1 lap when Sheldon Kinser Jr. moved into the number one spot. Kinser only had the lead for 2 laps when Joe Melnick tried his hand at the top spot.

Melnick gave way to Roland Johnson 3 laps later. Roland, running one of his best races in some time held the top spot for 4 laps when Greg Leonard took the lead on lap 12 and never looked back as he made his sponsor J D Byrider proud by taking the J D Byrider main. Leonard who started in 5th found the high side of the track working to his liking. Casey Johnson and Sport Allen battled side by side for second, with the 16 year old Johnson edging out the current point leader. Following Leonard, Johnson and Allen were Micheal Smith in the Mulligan Motorsports car and Roland Johnson.

The 25 Lap J D Byrider LATE MODEL main went to Roger Crouse over Bob Peterson, Bobby Alexander Sr., Bill Howard and Donnie Tanner.

Wayne Hammond claimed the 20 Lap J D Byrider OPEN WHEEL MODIFIED main over John Bradley, Bruce Watkins, Bobby Dixon and Roger Crouse.

The 15 Lap J D Byrider MINI STOCK main went to Scott Howard over Scotty Williams, William Hampton, Forrest Gough and Spencer Buzbee.

David Boerner held his line on the low side of the track and held off a last lap charge by Terry Gay to claim his first career win in the 15 lap J D Byrider LIMITED LATE MODEL main. Following Boerner and Gay it was Shane Koperda getting his best finish, Ricky Land and Jerry White.

John Borders took the victory in the holdover STREET STOCK A Main over Terry Bronson, Jim Greenwood, Cam Canova and Charlie Wiberg. In the J D Byrider STREET STOCK A Main it was John Borders sweeping the night as he claimed the win over Bruce Ponti, Jason Bronson, Hollie Smith and Bryson Ryker. The J D Byrider STREET STOCK B main went to Steve Johnson over Jim Greenwood, Eric Johnson, Tony Jackson and Jeff Stewart. The holdover STREET STOCK B Main found Mac Kersey getting his first career win over Steve Spencer, Charlie Wiberg, Loren Bailey and Jason Whitslar.
