Story by Dan Snow

After a lengthy rain delay, the Mid Season Championship racing began with the Big Wheels Mini Stocks. #17 Michael Johns of Alva sat on the pole for the twenty lap race. Johns had a nice lead on the rest of the field until a caution on lap ten bunched up the pack. On the restart, a bump by #94 Keith Risinger of Ft. Myers caused #17 Johns to slide in to the inside wall on the backstretch and landed him in the pits for the rest of the race. Risinger went to the rear while #56 Brian Richardson of North Ft. Myers had made his way up through the pack to take the lead on the restart. Richardson stayed out in front to take the win followed by #98 Johnny Allen in second and #51 Rick Nastan of Sarasota in third.

Nineteen cars lined up for the Lee's Auto Repair Road Warriors twenty lap feature. #92X Frank McIntosh of Lehigh Acres had the pole. With two laps in for the thundering herd, #M00 Bob Williams of Naples blew an engine right under the flag stand. The restart saw #2 Lonnie Retherford of N. Ft. Myers on the point. By lap six it was #61 Chris Oncken out in front and #73 Del Beckner of Naples in second. Onchen and Beckner battled side by side over first place for the final twelve laps of the race until the last lap when #27 Terry Price of Punta Gorda was able to take advantage of lapped traffic to move out in front for the win. #73 Beckner came in second followed by #61 Oncken in third.

The Hendry's Mango Maniacs Cowboy Cadillacs were up next for their twenty lap feature. #1 Chuck Merchant of Arcadia had the pole but #33 Don Van Acker of Punta Gorda took the early lead. After ten green flag laps, #44 Raymond Tucker of Ft. Myers and #46J Jay Bryant of Arcadia got together in turn two. Tucker went to the rear on the restart , Bryant ended up in the pits for the night with the help of Mackie's Auto Wrecker, and #33 Van Acker was still on the point. Van Acker held of for the win followed by #2 Gene Pack of Grove City in second and #73S Richard Martin of Port Charlotte in third.

The Lee's Auto Detail & Transmission Pure Stocks feature began with #56 Walt Korkiner on the pole. Until lap six it was green flag racing, but when it appeared that #10 Eric Smith of Bonita Springs and #11 Doug Spitzer of Cape Coral were going to spin while doing a little paint swapping, flagman Greg Roeback started waving the caution. The two drivers managed to pull it together and continue the race, but the incident did cause a restart. Greg said later "that was a wreck that started, but never finished". #7 Danny Caylor made his way up from the middle of the pack to take over the lead by lap eleven. Caylor held on for the win followed by #11 Doug Spitzer in second and #711 Mark Ludvigsen in third.

#1 Dave Moskwa of N. Ft. Myers sat on the pole for the Little Vic's Concessions Modified Minis. #22 Doug Wilson of Cape Coral took the lead on lap five of this twenty lap feature and #99 Jason Kuykendall of Port Charlotte moved up for a close second place, but not for long. #3 Danny Yates of Cape Coral made it around Kuykendall to take over the spot. Lap fourteen saw #99 Kuykendall heading for the pits on the backstretch while #22 Wilson and #3 Yates moved out for a commanding lead. Wilson held on for the win followed by Yates in second and #98 Mike Ginaitt of Punta Gorda in third.

The Cat Country Limited Late Models thirty five lap feature got underway with #62 Buzz Martin of Lehigh Acres on the pole. #36X Al Fradette of N. Lauderdale took the lead on lap two, but was in third by lap nine when #4 Randy Fox of Lehigh Acres took over the lead and #29 Mike Hovis of N. Ft. Myers moved into second. #127 Karo Vaughn of Naples blew an engine on lap ten bringing out the all volunteer broom crew, and lap sixteen saw a caution for debris on the track, but #4 Fox held position. Fox went on to take the win followed by #29 Hovis in second and #81 Chuck Sweet of Port Charlotte in third.

#72 Shawn Van Wie of Naples sat on the pole of the Kix Country Sportsman twenty five lap feature. When the green flag dropped, it was #8 Raymond Jones of Arcadia heading to the front of the pack. A caution on lap four, and again on lap six brought the field together but #8 Jones held onto his position for the win. #67 James DuBose of Arcadia came up from the middle of the pack to take second, and #E38 Ralph Goddard of Naples, also moving up from the middle, took the third place finish.

The K & S Transport, Inc Open Wheel Modifieds began their twenty five lap feature with #72 Ronny Barnett of Port Charlotte on the pole. #6 Kevin Williams of Port Charlotte took the lead on the first lap of the race. A caution came out on lap four, bringing the field together when #28 Mike LeMaster of Naples did a little spin. #6 Williams was still out in front on lap nineteen when #80 Chris Dean of Ft. Myers and #8 Kent McLean of N. Ft. Myers got together. Dean went to the rear for the restart. #6 Williams held on for the win followed by #72 Barnett in second. #25 Scott Kleiber of Naples made his way up from the back of the pack to take third.

Ten cars lined up for the Shirley's Bookkeeping Rebel Road Warriors fifteen lap feature and #68H John Hanuchik of Cape Coral had the pole. By lap three, it was #55 Conrad Molter of Naples out in front, as #3 John Boyer of Cape Coral was steadily making his way up through the pack. #68 Al Welling of N. Ft. Myers blew an engine in turn one of lap six ending his night. #55 Molter held on for the win followed by #3 Boyer in second and #36 Steve Schroeder of Ft. Myers who had moved up from the back to take third.

Thank you Gina Ferrah for starting our night by singing the National Anthem. A big thank you to all the drivers and fans who came to help support the track. While the rain delay put us over the time limit for the curfew, we all had a good and exciting night of stock car racing.
