by Danny Snow
The Hendry's Mango Maniacs Cowboy Cadillacs started the night's racing fun with their eight lap heat race. #08 Eddie Allen of Alva sat on the pole. #37 Cheryl Weaver of Port Charlotte made her way up from the back to take the win followed by #08 Allen in second and #33 Don Van Acker of Punta Gorda in third.

#18 Dennis Diehl of West Palm Beach sat on the pole for the first of three Florida Dwarf Car Federation heat races. #27 Alan Cote of N. Miami Beach took the win in this all green flag race. #40 Alain Paradis of Miramar moved up from the back to take second followed by #68 Brian Paradis Also of Miramar in third. Heat two got underway with #88 Mike Landis of Boynton Beach on the pole. In another all green flag race, #22 Mark Landis of Delray Beach moved up from the back to take the win followed by #5 George Landis of Boynton Beach in second and #92 Tim McLeod of Sarasota in third.

#49 Rick McFarland of West Palm Beach sat on the pole for the third heat, but it was #8 Stan Hope of Ft. Myers who took the win. #17 Marc-Andre Gagnon of Hollywood moved up from the back to take second followed by #49 McFarland in third. The Outlaw Modifieds started their first heat with #78 Dave Cochran of Ft. Lauderdale on the pole. #87 S. C. Klinger of Pembroke Pines took the lead on lap six and held on for the win. #78 Cochran held on to take second followed by #5 Ted Hoverson of Key West in third.

Heat two got underway with #31 Heidi Locke of Tavernier on the pole. Tavernier held position to take the win followed by #57 Mike Lauter of Coconut Grove in second. #55 Lance Hoverson of Key West came in third.

The Shirley's Bookkeeping Rebel Road Warriors were up next with #36 Steve Schroeder of Ft. Myers on the pole. #6 Henry Ferguson of Lehigh Acres joined the elite upside down club when he rolled three times after a little contact with #25 J. J. Sanford going down the front stretch. Ferguson was all right, but it took some time to clean up the aftermath. #36 Schroeder went on to take the win followed by #9S Taz Sidock of Cape Coral in second and #68H John Hanuschik also from Cape Coral in third.

Heat two began with #68 Al Welling of N. Ft. Myers on the pole. #55 Conrad Molter of Naples took the lead from #3B John Boyer of Cape Coral on lap five. #55 Molter held on for the win followed by #3B Boyer in second and #88 Wayne Wilson of Ft. Myers in third.

The first heat of the Kix Country Sportsman division got underway with #3 Scott Moran of Ft. Myers on the pole. #21 Vince Koch and #27 Bryan Beckner of Naples got together on lap four bringing out a caution and sending Beckner to the pits. #3 Moran held on for the win followed by #8 Raymond Jones of Arcadia who made his way up from the back to take second and #20 George Ellsworth of N. Ft. Myers, who had also started in the back, in third.

Heat two was quick and green all the way. #76 Joe Reese of Bonita Springs had the pole, but it was #9 Jerry Bryant of Punta Gorda who took the win. #76 Reese held on to take second followed by #67 James DuBose of Arcadia in third.

#2 Lonnie Retherford of N. Ft. Myers had the pole for heat one of the Lee's Auto Repair Road Warriors division. There was a little paint swapping, but this was another all green flag race. #1 Jesse Gargus of N. Ft. Myers made his way up from the middle of the pack to take the win. #9 Gary Miller of Englewood took second followed by #59 Jim Kaczynski of Cape Coral in third.

#61 Chris Oncken of Ft. Myers sat on the pole for the second heat. The yellow flag flew with only one lap to go setting up a one lap shoot out. #61 Oncken held on for the win followed by #10 Regner in second. #73 Del Beckner of Naples made his way up from the back of the pack to take third.

The K & S Transport, Inc. Open Wheel Modifieds first heat got underway with #31 Kurt Riley of Cape Coral on the pole. #22 Scott Adema of Ft. Myers took the win in this all green race. # 31 Riley held on to take second followed by #8 Kent McLean of N. Ft. Myers in third.

Heat two began and ended with #55 Dan Atwell of Naples out in front. Atwell, who took the win, #80 Chris Dean of Ft. Myers, who took second, and #25 Scott Kleiber of Naples, who took third, ran the last three laps of the race bumper to bumper for an exciting finish to the night's heat races.

The Hendry's Mango Maniacs Cowboy Cadillacs twenty lap feature was up next with #44 Raymond Tucker of Ft. Myers on the pole. #2 Gene Pack of Grove City spun on lap three in turn one. Pack was in the rear on the restart and #37 Cheryl Weaver had made her way up from the back to take the point. Just as the race got underway, #33 Don Van Acker lost his left front tire going into turn two, earning a ride from Mackie's Auto Towing, and ending his night. By lap ten, #2 Pack was pushing hard trying to get around #37 Weaver, but Weaver held on for the win, followed by #2 Pack. #24 Justin Bryant of Arcadia came in third. #27 Alan Cote had the pole for the Florida Dwarf Car Federation twenty five lap feature race. By lap five, #22 Mark Landis was out in front and checking out on the rest of the pack. By lap ten Landis was running in lapped traffic. The caution flag flew on lap twenty three bunching up the field, but #22 Landis held on for the win. #27 Cote took second followed by #40 Alain Paradis in third.

The twenty five lap Outlaw Modified feature got underway with #78 Dave Cochran on the pole. After spinning out on lap seven, Cochran was in the rear on the restart and #5 Ted Hoverson had made his way up from the middle of the pack to take the point. It looked as if #87 S. C. Klinger would end the race in second place, but after putting on a good show moving up from the back, he had to pit for the night on lap twenty during a caution. On the restart #5 Ted Hoverson was still out in front. #55 Lance Hoverson had made his way up from the middle of the field to take over the number two spot and #21 Duane Gilfus of Loxahatchee was in third, but #28 Robbie Bean of Miami, who started in the back of the pack, was also moving up. #28 Bean went to the outside of #55 Lance Hoverson to take over second place on lap twenty three. #5 Ted Hoverson held on to take the win followed by #28 Robbie Bean in second and #55 Lance Hoverson.

#36 Steve Schroeder sat on the pole for the Shirley's Bookkeeping Rebel Road Warriors twenty lap feature race. While #3B John Boyer took over the lead on lap eight, #88 Wayne Wilson was making his way up through the pack. The caution flag flew on lap fourteen as #68 Al Welling broke in turn one. On the restart #3B Boyer was still out in front with #9S Taz Sidock in second and #88 Wayne Wilson in third and that's how they crossed the finish line. #3B Boyer was disqualified in tech for illegal springs, as was #9S Sidock. The official finishing order was #88 Wayne Wilson in first, #27 Chuck Sweet, who had made his way up from the back of the pack, in second, and #77 Dennis Hale of Punta Gorda in third.

The Kix Country Sportsman thirty five lap feature got underway with #3 Scott Moran on the pole. #39 Phillip Johnson of Naples and #27 Bryan Beckner got together on the backstretch on lap eight. Beckner hit the outside wall and wound up with front-end damage, ending his night. By lap fourteen, #19 Kenny Eaton of Lehigh Acres and #67 James DuBose had made their way up from the middle of the pack and took over the first and second place positions. For the last ten laps of the race, #19 Eaton, #9 Jerry Bryant, and #67 DuBose were nose to tail, giving the fans a real show and finishing the race in that order.

Twenty one cars lined up for the Lee's Auto Repair Road Warriors twenty lap feature with #2 Lonnie Retherford on the pole. The first caution of the race came out on lap two as four cars spun in turns three and four on the second lap. After the yellow flag had flown a few more times, a lap fifteen restart had #61 Chris Oncken had made his way up from the middle of the pack to take the point. #61 Chris Oncken and #73 Del Beckner, who had started in the back of the field, spent the last two laps of the race side by side with #21 Andy Wood right there on their bumpers. #73 Beckner took the win followed by #61 Oncken in second and #21 Wood in third.

The K & S Transport, Inc. Open Wheel Modifieds twenty five lap feature got underway with #31 Kurt Riley on the pole. #8 Kent McLean did a bit of spinning at the drop of the green flag, putting on a little smoke show. The flagman lined everyone back up and the race was on. #55 Dan Atwell was sent to the rear on lap three for spinning out #95 Chris Turner of Naples. This was the night for side by side racing, and these guys didn't let anyone down. For the final two laps of the race #80 Chris Dean, who started the race in the middle of the field, and #25 Scott Kleiber who started the race in the back of the field, were out in front and side by side. When they crossed the finish line it was #80 Dean in first by a bumper, and #25 Kleiber in second. #22 Scott Adema took third place.
