Anderson Wins Charlotte LLM

The chili was hot but the racing was even hotter as the night's activities got underway. The Chili Cook off to benefit the MDA was a success with the Morning Show crew from Kix Country 92.9 as judges. I'm happy to report that Todd, Bob, and Karrie Along with Zane Scott were doing fine after their tongues were doused with a few gallons of cold liquids.

#10 Steve Wagner from the Pinellas Co. Sheriff's Office sat on the pole for the A-Truck Body & Machine 911 Racing first heat. There was plenty of smoke as #47 Joe Gill of the Citrus Co. Sheriff's Office spun in turn four on lap three. #28 Phil Riles of the St. Pete Beach Police Department took the win followed by #10 Wagner in second and #2 Bob Hart, also from the Pinellas Co. Sheriff's Office, in third. Heat two began with #72 Steve Cole of Pinellas Co. Sheriff's Office on the pole. It didn't take long for the #27 Clark Wagner of the Pinellas Co. Sheriff's Office and #99 Rick Penton of the Hollywood Police Department to move way out in front of the rest of the pack.. #27 Wagner took the win followed by #99 Penton in second and #0 Wad Hatcher of the St. Lucie Co. Sheriff's Office in third.

#7 Hank Fielder of Punta Gorda had the pole for the first Big Wheels Mini Stocks heat. At the drop of the green flag, #6 Marshall Parr Sr. of North Ft.. Myers took the lead. #41 Billy Ray Jr. of Port Charlotte tried hard on the last lap to get out in front of Parr but couldn't make it. #6 Parr held on for first followed by #41 Ray in second. #2 Roger Garrett of North Ft. Myers had stayed on Parr's bumper and raced hard throughout most of the race but ended up in third.

Heat two saw #5 Glenn Travis of North Ft. Myers sitting in the pole position, but it was #98 Johnny Allen of Lehigh Acres taking the lead when the green flag dropped. There was some nice three wide racing through turn two on the second lap, which is always a treat. #98 Allen took the win followed by #94 Keith Risinger of Ft. Myers in second and #56 Brian Richardson of North Ft. Myers in third.

The first heat of the Lee's Auto Detail & Transmission Pure Stocks got underway with #7 Danny Caylor on the pole. In this all green flag race, #22 Kevin Murphy of Ft. Myers took the lead at the drop of the green and held on to it for the win. #11 Doug Spitzer of Cape Coral took second followed by #2 David Fischer of Naples in third.

#16 Wally Smith sat on the pole for the second heat. Smith and #99 Mark Collins of Cape Coral got together in turn one of lap one bringing out a caution. #71 Scott Moran of Port Charlotte had the lead on the restart. #38 Joe Reese of Bonita Springs made his way out in front on the last lap to take the win followed by #31X Elbert Butts of Nocatee in second and #71 Moran in third.

#63 Gerald Bates of Ft. Myers sat on the pole for the first heat of the Lee's Auto Repair Road Warrior division. #35 Ron Dushek Jr. of Lehigh Acres spun around in turn three on lap two bringing out the only caution of the race. #31 Scott Barnes of Ft. Myers took the lead on the restart and walked away with the win. #59 Jim Kaczynski Jr. of Cape Coral came in second followed by #10 Mark Regner of North Ft. Myers in third.

Heat two started with #4 Bruce Allen Sr. of Naples on the pole. #M00 Bob Williams of Naples came around on the outside of turn four on lap four to take the lead and held on to it for the win. #7 Jonathan Abraham of Cape Coral came in second followed by #61 Chris Oncken of Ft. Myers in third.

Little Vic's Concessions Modified Minis heat one got underway with #98 Mike Ginaitt of Punta Gorda on the pole. #3 Danny Yates of Cape Coral took the lead early in this all green flag race and held on for the win. #96 Frank Welch of North Ft. Myers came in second followed by #90 Jason Kuykendall of Port Charlotte in third.

Heat two saw #62 Rick Thompson of Ft. Myers on the pole. #68 Ronnie Allen of Lehigh Acres and #1 Dave Moskwa of North Ft. Myers shot out in the lead at the drop of the green. After three laps of almost side by side racing, #68 Allen took the lead and held on for the win. #1 Moskwa came in second followed by #38 Dean Forrest of Ft. Myers in third.

#2 Kevin Brickley of Estero had the pole for the first K & S Transport, Inc. Open Wheel Modifieds heat. #31N Johnny Newsome of Tampa took the early lead and hung on for the win in this all green flag race. #22 Scott Adema of Ft. Myers took second followed by #72D James DuBose of Arcadia in third.

Heat two got underway with #80 Chris Dean of Ft. Myers on the pole. Lap three saw #8 Kent McLean of North Ft. Myers do a little spin in turn four bringing out a caution. #80 Dean held on for the win followed by #25 Scott Kleiber of Naples in second and #8 McLean in third.

The first heat of the Cat Country 107 Limited Late Models got started with #67 James DuBose of Arcadia on the pole. On the first lap #36X Alain Fradette of North Lauderdale got a little sideways coming out of turn four while #62 Buzz Martin of Lehigh Acres blew an engine. After the all volunteer broom crew cleaned up the aftermath, #51 Richie Anderson of North Ft. Myers took the win followed by #67 DuBose in second and #36X Fradette in third.

#43 Glenn Morris of Bokeelia had the pole for the second heat and held it for the win in this all green flag race. #64 Chris Libak of Ft. Myers took second followed by #4 Randy Fox of Lehigh Acres in third.

#8 Jerry Brauer of the Pinellas Co. Sheriff's Office had the pole for the A-Truck Body & Machine 911 Racing twenty lap feature race. #10 Steve Wagner brought out a caution and had to pit for the night on lap six when his car started leaking fluid. #2 Bob Hart had the lead on the restart, only to get loose in turns three and four collecting #99 Rick Penton and bringing out another yellow flag. Hart had a flat tire and some front-end damage but made it back to the race a few laps down. There was some good side by side racing for about seven laps between #8 Brauer and #27 Clark Wagner, and between #28 Phil Riles and #47 Joe Gill. Wagner took the lead on lap fifteen only to land in the pits on lap eighteen with a blown engine, bringing out a caution. #28 Riles had the lead on the restart and held on to it for the win followed by #64 Dick Masten of the Miami Shores Police Dept. who had made his way up to take second. #47 Joe Gill came in third.

The Big Wheel Mini Stocks feature got underway with #7 Hank Fielder on the pole. On lap four of this twenty lap race, #31 Harlan Wilson of Arcadia and #5 Glenn Travis got together in turns one and two bringing out the first caution. #6 Marshall Parr Sr. had the lead on the restart for a few laps before #98 Johnny Allen took it away on lap seven with #56 Brian Richardson moving right along with him and taking over the number two spot. Allen spun in turns three and four as he tried to hold his position on lap twelve, bringing out a caution. #56 Richardson came in first followed by #94 Keith Risinger in second and #5 Glenn Travis in third.

#7 Danny Caylor sat on the pole for the Lee's Auto Detail & Transmission Pure Stocks twenty five lap feature. The drivers must have been hot to get started because it took two restarts to get this race underway. The green flag flew for seven laps before a three-car mishap in turn two brought out a caution. #10 Eric Smith had the lead on the restart, but #19 Greg Anderson of Port Charlotte jumped out in the lead on lap eight and walked away from the rest of the pack. The rest of this race was good hammer down and side by side racing with #19 Anderson holding on for the win followed by #10 Smith in second and #99 Mark Collins in third. #10 was disqualified in tech for compression, giving #99 Collins the official second place spot and #38 Joe Reese the official third place position.

The Lee's Auto Repair Road Warriors twenty lap feature had #63 Gerald Bates on the pole. After a restart on lap two, #31 Scott Barnes took the lead. #M00 Bob Williams and #28 Joe Bossey of Englewood did a split to get around #31 Barnes on lap fourteen with #M00 Williams taking the lead and #28 Bossey second. #27 Terry Price of Punta Gorda took over the third place position on lap nineteen. As the checkered flag flew it was #Moo, #28, and #27. All three were disqualified in tech for too much vacuum, leaving the official finishing order as #31 Scott Barnes in first, #73 Del Beckner of Naples in second, and #61 Chris Oncken in third.

The thirty five lap feature of the K & S Transport, Inc. Open Wheel Modifieds got underway with #2 Kevin Brickley on the pole. Lap two saw #80 Chris Dean take the lead with #25 Scott Kleiber right behind him taking over second. #2 Brickley spun in turn three on lap nine or ten, ending up in the back of the pack on the restart. #80 Dean was in first on the restart with #25 Kleiber second, and #22 Scott Adema third.
