LEONARD STAYS HOT, THE REAL DEAL IS BACK @ EASTBAY

by Ken Sands

Sheldon Kinser Jr. looked like he was going to claim his first career win at East Bay Raceway on Saturday Night as he took the lead on lap one and began to pull away from the field, however once he caught lapped traffic, the story changed. The man who has been red hot lately, Greg Leonard moved under Kinser in lapped traffic on the 20th circuit and then had to hold off the charge of Casey Johnson who was looking to celebrate his 16th Birthday with the win, Leonard did prevail to claim his 4th win in a row and also take home the Buddys Home Furnishings 100 Day Same as Cash Bonus of $600. Casey Johnson held on for second over Kinser Jr., Johnny Gilbertson and Brian Maddox.

In Late Models it was "The Real Deal" Keith Nosbisch making his first appearance of the 2001 season and coming from last to first to claim the win over Donnie Tanner, Ted Erskine, Bobby Alexander Sr. and Bill Howard.

Jerry Rogers took the Limited Late Model Main over Raymond Rogers, David Simpson, Forrest Gough and Terry Gay.

The Open Wheel Modifieds made their second appearance of the season and when it was all said and done, Roger Crouse had his 100th career win, all coming at East Bay, Crouse outran Jerry Rogers, Buzzie Reutimann, Bobby Dixon and Greg Reutimann to take the win.

The Mini Stocks fell to William Hampton over Derrick Nagle, Scott Howard, Dustin Perez and Ken Rutledge. The Street Stock A Main went to Danny Paris over Tim Hunt, Timmy Bronson, Jason Bronson and Bruce Harvey.

The Street Stock B Main found "Wall Banger" Charlie Wyberg getting his first career win over Jeff Stewart and Jack Rowland.
