FastTruck Challenge Goes To James Glover

Kendrick Gomez grabbed the lead when Billy Barnwell spun on lap 17 and sped to the victory in the 20 lap late model sportsman feature event Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.

Barnwell, back behind the wheel following a 20 year layoff, seemed to have things well in hand when he did a solo spin in turn 2 as Gomez hustled into the lead. Once in front Gomez never looked back and notched his first win this season over David Weaver, Bobby Shelton, Danny Maddox and Gary McGoron.

Steve Godlewski proved the best of the street stock set as he muscled his way to the lead on lap 20 and went on to his second win this season. Mike Kohut led most of the distance but settled for runner-up honors over Rick Lutz, early leaader Jeff Bradley and Gary Padula.

Jeff Firestine led the opening 20 laps of the visiting Fastruck Challenge until James Glover put his mount ahead and ran to the victory in the 35 lap main event. Firestine trailed ahead of Bobby Donohue, Curt Haywood and Gary Foxworth.

Buddy Sizemore topped the 25 lap mini stock main with a dominant run over Kenny Strong, Tommy Styer, Jim Miner and David Russell.

After battling week after week Roger Pfau finally put it all together and claimed his first cyclone feature victory. Taking the lead when Mark Bradley fell out, Pfau set sail and topped Richard Valentine, Frank Kelliher, Roger Bohannon and Mike Powers in the 25 lap event.
