Charlotte County Cowboy Cadillacs goes to Wilson

The evening's racing fun began with the first of two eight-lap heats for the Outlaw Modifieds with #25 Kelly Curl of Homestead on the pole. Lap three saw the #14 car driven by John Etmanczyk of Big Pine Key take the lead. Etmanczyk held on for the win in the all green flag race, followed by #10 Bobby McElroy from Wellington in second, and #55 Lance Hoverson of Key West, who had charged up from the back of the pack to take third. The second heat got underway with #67 C. J. Haycraft of Miramar on the pole. The black flag had to be brought out on lap two sending #94 Christy Boyett of Punta Gorda to the pits for leaking fuel. Haycraft held on for the win. #5 Ted Hoverson of Key West came up from the back of the pack to take second, and #4 Bill Mattress of Polk City in third.

The Hendry's Mango Maniacs Cowboy Cadillacs eight-lap heat saw #2 Gene Pack, Jr. on the pole. By lap four #24 Justin Bryant of Arcadia had taken the point and held onto it for the win. #33 Don Van Acker of Punta Gorda took second followed by #44 Raymond Tucker of Ft. Myers in third. The green flag dropped for the first of two six-lap heats of the Kix Country 92.9 Sportsman division with #94 Chuck Wolfe of Naples on the pole.

Half way through the race #107 Jim Keating of Bonita Springs took turn four a bit too high and smacked the wall, sending him to the pits with a flat tire. #23 Butch Murray of North Ft. Myers took the checkered flag. Bryan Beckner of Naples brought the #27 car up from the back of the pack to take second, followed by #40 Jeremy Goddard of Naples, who had also came up from the back, taking third. #E38 Ralph Goddard of Naples had the pole for the second heat and held it for the first four laps before Phillip Johnson, also of Naples, took his #39 to the front and held on for the win. Goddard held on for second place, followed by #8 Raymond Jones of Arcadia in third.

Greg Anderson of Port Charlotte sat on the pole for the first heat of the Lee's Auto Detail & Transmission Pure Stocks in the #19 car. Anderson said 'see ya' to the rest of the pack, showing them his rear bumper for all six laps. #11 Doug Spitzer of Cape Coral took second, followed by #10 Eric Smith Bonita Springs in third. Heat two started with #18 Ray Jane of Punta Gorda on the pole. Danny Caylor brought the #7 car up to take the win after starting sixth, followed by #31X Elbert Butts who moved up from seventh to take second, while Kay Jackson brought the #91 car up from tenth starting position to take third.

The first six-lap heat of the Lee's Auto Repair Road Warriors began with #68H John Hanuschik of Cape Coral on the pole. After the flagman, Greg Roeback, tried to get everyone slowed down for a restart, #52 Donna Connolly of Lehigh Acres slid into #14 Ricky Gill of North Ft. Myers. Connolly had to pit with a busted radiator. Ron Dushek, Jr. of Lehigh Acres had the pole position for the restart. Gary Miller of Englewood moved up from the middle of the pack to take the win in the #9 car, followed by #10 Mark Regner of North Ft. Myers who had made his way up from tenth starting position to take second, and #35 Ron Dushek, Jr. in third. Heat two began with #31 Scott Barnes of Ft. Myers on the pole. There was plenty of paint swapping through out the race, but it didn't effect #27 Terry Price of Punta Gorda who made his way up from the back, took the lead and held it for the win. Second place went to #61 Chris Oncken of Ft. Myers, followed by #31 Scott Barnes, also of Ft. Myers, in third.

#125 Bill Brewer of Naples sat on the pole for the first six-lap heat of the K & S Transport Open Wheel Modifieds. Scott Adema of Ft. Myers took the lead in the #22 car and hauled metal, holding it for the win. #31 Kurt Riley of Cape Coral took second, with Brewer taking third. Heat two saw #80 Chris Dean of Ft. Myers hold the top spot from the drop of the green to the drop of the checkered. Kent McLean of North Ft. Myers took second in the #8 car while #55 Dan Atwell of Naples came in third.

The Kix Country 92.9 Sportsman thirty-five lap feature got underway with Chuck Wolfe from Naples on the pole in the #94 car. #23 Butch Murray of North Ft. Myers got turned around on lap three bringing out the first caution. Bryan Beckner of Naples in #27 had the point on the restart. After another caution, and with about ten laps left in the race, Beckner and #9 Jerry Bryant of Punta Gorda battled it out for the lead, with Bryant coming out in front and holding on for the win. Beckner held on to take second, while #22 Danny Yates of Cape Coral took third after a real battle with Butch Murray for the spot.

#19 Greg Anderson of Port Charlotte sat on the pole for the Lee's Auto Detail & Transmission Pure Stocks twenty five lap feature. After a restart on lap three, #33 Mike Loney and #18 Ray Jane of Punta Gorda ended up getting together down the back stretch bringing out a red flag. Loney hit the back pit exit pretty hard, and there were a few tense moments, but he was talking to the track officials before he was taken to the hospital to be checked out. #7 Danny Caylor took the lead on lap eight, with #711 Mark Ludvigsen of Ft. Myers Beach moving up to second. Caylor still had the lead on the lap nineteen restart after the all volunteer broom crew cleaned up the track when #66 Arthur Brown of Arcadia blew an engine. Caylor took the win followed by #91 Kay Jackson of Punta Gorda who had moved all the way from the nineteenth starting position to take second. Ludvigsen took third.

The twenty lap Outlaw Modifieds feature got started with #25 Kelly Curl of Homestead on the pole. Curl held the top spot until lap four when a little bump from #14 John Etmanczyk of Big Pine Key helped him spin in turn one bringing out the first yellow. Curl got his position back for the restart, but Etmanczyk was leaking fuel bad enough to get the black flag on lap five. #5 Ted Hoverson of Key West moved up through the pack to take the lead by lap ten, with #10 Bobby McElroy of Wellington moving up right behind him and staying just off his back bumper. They took a full straightaway lead over the rest of the cars. Hoverson went on to take the win with McElroy right behind him in second. #55 Lance Hoverson of Key West moved up from the back of the pack to take third.

Hendry's Mango Maniacs Cowboy Cadillacs twenty lap feature began with #2 Gene Pack, Jr. of Grove City on the pole. Pack took off for an early lead, but by lap six #46 Buck Wilson of Arcadia was right up behind him trying to take the spot. Lap eight saw #33 Don Van Acker of Punta Gorda help the #44 car of Raymond Tucker of Ft. Myers get turned around in turns three and four, sending Van Acker to the rear of the pack. #46 Wilson took the lead on the restart going into lap nine and held on for the win. #2 Pack took second followed by #33 Van Acker who had made his way from the back to take third.

The K & S Transport Open Wheel Modifieds feature saw #125 Bill Brewer of Naples sitting on the pole of their thirty five lap race. Three wide racing didn't work very well coming out of turn four and the #55 Dan Atwell from Naples ended up spinning around under the flag stand. Brewer and #31 Kurt Riley of Cape Coral got together on turn two, sending Brewer to the pits under his own power and Riley to the pits with the aid of the track wrecker. Riley came back out a lap down to finish the race. After taking the lead early in the race, #22 Scott Adema of Ft. Myers held on to take the win. With the last ten or fifteen laps of the race being side by side racing, #25 Scott Kleiber of Naples took second over #80 Chris Dean of Ft. Myers in third.

John Hanuschik of Cape Coral was behind the wheel of the #68H car for the start of the Lee's Auto Repair Road Warriors twenty-lap feature race. Wow! With a field of twenty seven cars, these drivers had to work hard to make the first five laps without a caution. It looked like a sea of painted metal as they rounded the track. After a few restarts, #29 Derek Ficarra of Englewood took the lead and held on for the win, but was later disqualified in tech for having a locked rear end. #73 Del Beckner of Naples and # 61 Chris Oncken of Ft. Myers thought they were battling it out for second and third place for the last two or three laps of the race, but with the disqualification of #29, Beckner and Oncken were fighting over the top spot. Beckner got out in front to take first, followed by Oncken in second and #28 Joe Bossey of Englewood came in third.
