GREG LEONARD TOPS SPRINT FIELD

by Ken Sands

Greg Leonard out of Gibsonton, took the lead from Micheal Smith on lap 7 and then had to hold off Pinellas Park's Sport Allen as he won his first 25 lap Sprint car main on Saturday at East Bay Raceway in Tampa Florida. 15 year old Casey Johnson out of Sarasota, 2000 Champ Johnny Gilbertson of Tampa and Winter Park's Red Stauffer rounded out the top 5. On lap 3 Danny Martin Jr. hit the 3rd turn wall hard and 5 time winner Kenny Adams flipped, both cars were badly damaged, both drivers were OK.

In Late Model action it was Jack Nosbisch Jr. taking his second in a row as he outran Bobby Alexander Sr., J R Austin, Bobby Alexander Jr., and Bill Howard. The Limited Late Model main saw Jerry Rogers and Jeff Mathews who crossed the line first and second both DQ in tech giving the win to Thonotosassa's Terry Gay over Keith Simpson, Forrest Gough, David Simpson and John Norris.

In Limited Sprints it was Dover's Donnie Maxwell powering his Ford home the winner, ending his streak of bad luck, over Gibsonton's Clyde Poole, Plant City's Andy Kelley, 2000 Champ Tim George and Brandon's Allen Achillich. Terry Bronson continued his
mastery of the Street Stocks as he claimed his fourth of the year over Bryson Riker, Scott Vanert, Timmy Bronson and Chad Smith.

In the Mini stocks it was Devin Dixon taking a very emotional win over Derrick Nagle, Spencer Buzbee, William Hampton and Ken Rutledge. Devin dedicated the win to Lori Dixon who passed away earlier in the week, the drivers went through the stands and collected $3500 for the Dixon family.
