FLSCA Opens Inaugural Season With A BANG!

by Ralph Wheeler
Thundercross Motorsports Park: The first race for the FLSCA "Wingless" Limited Sprint Cars could not have been better! Even though there only 8 cars, on the tight little 1/4 mile action track in Okeechobee FL, those 8 raced side by side and put on a WHALE of a show!

In the warm-ups #51, 5 time FMRA Midget Champ, Mark Gimmler clipped an infield tire with the left front and did a "Marky Tipover". The car flamed up a bit when the car was righted, but track official Rusty "Mr. 50/50" Marcus was all over it and quickly doused the flames. Thanks Rusty, GREAT JOB! The Gimmler crew scrambled to get the brand new car repaired and get lined up for the heat race.

Heat race action lined up and after #14 Ralph Wheeler clipped the wall, and a caution flew for #51 Mark Gimmler's spin, it was the elder brother #7 Gary Gimmler taking the win.

All 8 cars lined up for the feature after everyone did their best to dial in for the now drier, slicker track. On the front row #7 Gary Gimmler and #11 Billy Grace brought 'em down and the cars roared into the first turn with cars in every groove, hi, low, and in the middle! The caution flew for the spinning #14 Ralph Wheeler, and the field bunched in behind leader G. Gimmler. When the green dropped there was side by side action with every car! One more caution flew as Mark Gimmler spun bunching the field for a scramble for the finish. #11 Billy Grace passed #7 G. Gimmler at the end for an incredible finish.

The FLSCA is set to run at Thundercross every 2nd and 4th Saturdays thru November. Come out and see the ONLY NonWing Sprint Cars in Florida back 'em in the corners.
