STARS SHINE AS BRONSON SPEEDWAY OPENS

By Gil Peck

It was a pretty night and the crowd was enthusiastic as Bronson Motor Speedway opened its doors for the 2001 racing season on Saturday night. The Dwarf Cars were on hand to add to the rest of the Bronson Race Series. Lots of new stuff greeted the enthusiastic fans as they arrived. For one, new cars. Jeff Stalnaker, Sr has a brand bew gold and white MINI-STOCK ( # 11 ). Not to be outdone, Tater Stalnaker showed up in a new Chevrolet bodied MINI-STOCK and Joe Lawson had a nice new paint job on his # 75 MINI. New PURE STOCKS included the car of Crystal Batson, driving under the coaching of her very successful dad, Doc Batson out of Inverness, Fla. Her pretty blue # 4 entry was last years track champion, so it ought to be interesting to watch this talented young lady run for points. Mickey Burns had a neat new paint job on his Chevrolet. Im sure I left some hard work out on the part of others. Let me know and we can acknowledge.

DWARF CARS

Alan Davis was the winner in a wild 20-lap feature event that had these cars scooting in an out of corners and past one another lap after lap. Talk about lead changes! Nearly half the field spun and scattered down the main straightaway on the start of the feature. Everybody collected themselves and were ready for the complete re-start. Don Hess went for a wild ride in his 34 Chevy coupe and slammed into the turn one embankment after nearly going over. He was unhurt. Max Howe, spokesman for the group had a good run in his # 50 34 Chevy and tore through the field to finish fourth after two cautions that sent him to the rear both times. THE FINISHlisted below.

SUPER STOCK

Katy bar the door, and hang on to the women and children!, when this group of ground pounders take to the asphalt. Doc Batson, Brody Giddens, and Al Bouchard mixed it up on the start of the 20-lap feature and were door to door when all three spun on lap # 2. Great driving by Wes Keller in the # 34 A+ Air Conditioning Camaro catapulted him into the lead on the re-start. Wes pulled out to a nice lead, but you could have covered the rest of the field with a blanket for the entire race. While Doc Batson Arthur Conquest, and Jeff Bennet battled it out for the # 2 spot, Keller went on for the win. These great cars are with us every Saturday night, so make plans to come out often for some real excitement.

PURE STOCK

Mickey Burns of Hernando, Florida was the winner in pure stock. He had a strong challenge from John Hughes, but survived the twenty lap event for the win. Jason Holbrook was third, followed by Paul Gladdin and Larry Welter. Crystal Batson had a nice run going for fourth when she spun coming out of turn four on lap 15. We will hear plenty more from this young lady, as tonight was her first ever feature event in her brand new racing career.

Racing continues for our second night of the season, this Saturday night at 7:30 Be with us as the powerfull LATE MODEL SPORTSMAN cars invade the speedway for their DASH for CASH. The rest of the Bronson Race Series will be in action, as wellsee yall there.

MINI_STOCK

Tater Stalnaker had his black shadow Chevrolet sorted out quickly and held off a hard charge from Jeff Sr. to pull off the first win of the season for this new car. Jeff Stalnaker, Jr. has taken over the ride his dad chauffered last year and finished third. Clint Foley was fourth.
