CASEY JOHNSON TOPS EAST BAY SPRINT FIELD

16 year old Casey Johnson took the lead from Bubba the Love Sponge on Lap 11 and then held off the late charge of Brian Maddox to claim his first win of the 2001 season in the Dow Flooring Sprint Car Main.

Johnson a 4 time winner in 2000 has been close on many occasions this season and was not to be denied even with his cars front wing broken as he patiently waited for Bubba to drift a little high, when Bubba did, Johnson dove under and pulled away for the win. Brian Maddox made a late charge at Johnson, but was never able to get past the youngster. Maddox held on for second followed by Greg Leonard, Joe Melnick and Bubba the Love Sponge. Heats went to Bubba The Love Sponge and Joe Melnick.

In the Dow Flooring Late Model main it was Bill Howard coming from 24th starting spot to take the win over 2001 Track Champion Donnie Tanner, Greg Meredith, Jack Nosbisch Jr. and K D Kelley. The Dow Flooring Limited Late Model main went to 2001 Champ Forrest Gough over Jamie Burrows, David Simpson, Terry Gay and Tim Gay. Heats went to Jeff Mathews, Jamie Burrows and William Pugh.

Chris Livernois claimed the Dow Flooring Mini Stock main over 2001 Champ Scott Howard, Dorsey Strickland, Forrest Gough and Rich Livernois. Heats went to Ryan Mitchell, Dorsey Strickland and Chris Livernois.

The Dow Flooring Open Wheel Modifieds fell to Jamie Burrows over Bruce Watkins, Wayne Hammond, Bobby Dixon and Dean Varnadore.

The Dow Flooring first Street Stock Main went to 2001 Champ Terry Bronson over Jason Bronson, Richard Peacock, Chad Smith and Mac Kersey.

The Dow Flooring second Street Stock Main went to Danny Paris over Tim Hunt, Wayne Hays, Mike Gamache and Billy Updegraph. The Holdover C & C Concrete Street Stock A Main went to Danny Paris over Jason Bronson, Tim Hunt, Bryson Ryker and Timmy Bronson.

The C & C Concrete Holdover B Main went to Mike Gamache over Jack Rowland, Joe Greenwood, Glen Hodges and Mac Kersey.
