Symons Takes Pro Modified Win

With features only and a full moon, it was a wild and
wooly night at New Smyrna Speedway. The new reserved
grandstands and press box were awesome, makes the track
look completely different.

First up was the Sportsman Division with the #04 of
Doug Samion on the pole. But it was the #111 of
Donnie Williams getting pass the #04 of Samion and
the #30 of Clouser for the win. Top five were:
#111 - Donnie Williams, #7 - Chuck Abel, #04 - Doug
Samion, #30 - Dale Clouser and #2 - Brett Bultemeire.

The Super Stocks had 22 cars in their feature but it was
the #45 of Mike Soukup holding on for the win. The #13 of
Jim Winterstein, the previous winner, started in the rear
along with the #15x of Bill Spade and the #61 of Ted
Helmes. Winterstein worked his way into the top five but
had to retire with problems. But the action continued
with Soukup holding on for his second win. Top five were:
#45 - Mike Soukup, #15x - Bill Space, #55 - Jim Snyder,
#30 - Mike Wieczoreck, #61 - Ted Helmes.

The Pro Mod race saw Jerry Symons in the #66 set fast
time and draw the number 0 pill so the lineup was set
as qualified. Symons lead the whole 50 laps with the
#15 of Tank Tucker challenging him but never quite able
to take the lead away. Eventually the #14 of Aric
Amirola took the second spot holding off Tucker,
Underwood and Fitch. Top five were: #66 - Jerry Symons,
#14 - Aric Amirola, #15 - Tank Tucker, #09 - Rob
Underwood, #1 - Mike Fitch.

There were not many Super Lates on hand tonight but the
ones we had, gave quite a show. The #20 of Ron Dicandio
was on the pole for the 25 lap feature. Sammy Graham in
the #1 jumped out to take the lead with the #31 of Jeff
Sloan in second. But the #11 of David Rogers slipped
into the number one spot eventually tangling with
Graham and putting them both to the rear. This let the
#30rr of Justin Drawdy with the lead and the win. Top
five were: #30rr - Justin Drawdy, #11 - David Rogers,
#31 - Jeff Sloan, #1 - Sammy Graham, #90 - Robert
Anderchek.

Tim "Missileman" McPhail had the pole for the Mini-Stock
feature and won from the pole. Conrad Grenier in the
#01 tried every move to take McPhail but could not.
Next thing Grenier knew, the #55 of Rick Tumey was
knocking on his backdoor taking over second place.
The top five were: #7 - Tim "Missileman" McPhail,
#55 - Rick Tumey, #01 - Conrad Grenier, #71 - Ted
Vulipus, #9 - Dale Casteel.

The Strictly Stocks were full of non-stop action
once again. It seemed to be the battle of the
number 11's of Shane Stacey and Nick Vogler but
it was the #27 of Josh Wronkowski who finally took
over the lead and won the race. Top five were:
#27 - Josh Wronkowski, #11 - Nick Vogler, #11 -
Shane Stacy, #50 - Robert Skinner, #61 - Scott
Lees.

Next week at New Smyrna Speedway will be the Governor's
Cup with Governor Jeb Bush throwing the green. Open
practice on Friday night from 5 to 10 p.m. with
the race on Saturday at 7:30, qualifying at 5:30.
