Pack wins Charlotte Cowboy Cadillacs

The Rebel Road Warriors started off our night of all feature racing with #1 Jesse Gargus on the pole. Taz Sidock moved the #9S car out to the front by lap four while #55 Conrad Molter moved up into second place sending the pole sitter back to third. By lap fifteen Molter was closing in on Sidock, trying to move into the first place position. Molter made a valiant effort on the last lap, but couldnt quite pull it off. Sidock was disqualified in tech, as was #20 Leo Powley who had crossed the line in third. The official finishing order was #55 Molter in first, #3B John Boyer in second, and #88 Wayne Wilson in third.

The Pure Stocks were up next for their twenty-five lap feature race with #22 Kevin Murphy on the pole. #49B Joe Butler jumped to the lead on the drop of the green. A broken tie rod sent #10 Eric Smith to the pits after he got caught up in a bit of a scramble on the first lap, and a couple of cars were sent to the rear for having crew members assisting them on the track while under caution. #56 Walt Korkiner had just taken the lead from Butler on lap five when Butler bumped #38 Joe Reese, then smacked into the wall on turn four bringing out a caution and earning a spot at the rear for the restart. Korkiner went a bit high on lap nine and that was all it took for #91X John Plakiotis to take the lead coming out of turn four. By lap eleven Mark Collins had moved the #99 car up to take over second. With only four laps to go the #13 car of Randy Miller spun in turn four, bringing out a caution and bunching up the pack. #91X Plakiotis held on for the win followed by #56 Korkiner in second. #19 Greg Anderson rounded out the top three coming in third.

The Big Wheels Mini Stocks lined up nine cars for their twenty lap feature race with the #2 car of Roger Garrett on the pole, but it was Billy Ray Jr. in the #41 car in the lead by the end of the first lap. By lap ten Ray was still out in front but #94 Keith Risinger was right on his bumper and #56 Brian Richardson was coming on strong in third. Richardson took over the top spot on lap fifteen after Ray had some problems with his car. Richardson held position for the win followed by Risinger in second and #1 John Trotta in third.

C. J. Haycraft sat on the pole in the #67 car for the Outlaw Modified twenty five lap feature. #23 Rick McElroy and #52 Dan Curl got together on lap two bringing out the first caution. #23 McElroy had to be helped to the pits by Prompt Towing due to a flat tire. Curl also had to pit with some front end damage. Haycraft was still in the lead on the restart, and #5 Ted Hoverson made up a couple of positions when the green flag dropped putting him up in second. Haycraft still had the top spot after a restart on lap eight when the #7 car of Phil Brigham spun in turn 2, but it was #5 Hoverson out in front before they even made it to turn one. By lap ten #5 Hoverson was being followed by #10 Bobby McElroy in second and #87 S. C. Klinger in third. Klinger was in second place by lap fourteen and had his sights on #5 Hoverson, and was side by side with him by lap eighteen before dropping off the pace with only two laps to go. #5 Ted Hoverson held on to take the win with #55 Lance Hoverson in second and #87 Klinger in third.

The Sportsman division began their thirty five lap feature with #72 Shawn Wan Wie on the pole, but it was #63 Ryan Malone out in front by the end of the first lap. #0 Dick Robinson had to have a little help from a tow truck to get his car off the lost tire of #41 Joe Barbera on lap two. Malone was to have been out in front on the restart but had pitted, giving #107 Jim Keating the pole with #40 Jeremy Goddard in second and #72 Van Wie in third. #39 Phillip Johnson got into Van Wie on the restart causing them both to spin and earning a spot at the rear for the lap three start. While Keating ran away with the lead, the battle was on for second, third, and fourth. #40 Goddard, #8 Raymond Jones, and #9 Jerry Bryant put on a real show as they battled for position. #107 Keating took the win followed by #40 Goddard in second and #9 Bryant in third.

Nine cars lined up for the fifty lap Limited Late Model feature with #43 Glen Morris on the pole. Morris jumped the green, so flagman Greg Roeback had them line back up for another try at the start. #43 Morris, #64 Chris Libak, and #51 Richie Anderson started out one, two, and three and were still there on lap sixteen when #88 Randy Fox went low in turn three to take over the fourth place position. Fox had taken over third by lap eighteen, was in second place by lap twenty six, and was right on the bumper of Morris lead car by lap twenty nine, taking over the lead on lap thirty four. #88 Fox held on for the win with #43 Morris in second and #64 Libak in third.

The Cowboy Cadillacs twenty lap feature began with #46J Jay Bryant on the pole of the seven truck field. #73M Richard Martin took the lead on lap three. #46J Bryant tapped the wall in turn four on lap five, but not hard enough to bring out the caution. #2 Gene Pack Jr. took over the top spot on lap seven. Then on lap eight #33 Don Van Acker and #73M Martin got together bringing out the yellow flag. Martin was disqualified for rough driving. #2 Pack was out in the front for the restart. Lap ten saw #37 Cheryl Weaver take over the second place position, but #33 Van Acker stayed right on her tailgate for third. #2 Pack went on to take the checkered flag with #37 Weaver in second and #33 Van Acker in third.

The Rebel Road Warriors started their second feature race with #14 Ricky Gill on the pole. With one lap in, the #20 Leo Powley spun around in turn one for the first yellow and a restart. Gill stayed out front for all twenty five laps to take the win but was disqualified in tech at the end of the race for to much vacuum on his engine. The #55 of Conrad Molter was moved up to first place to take the win with #88 Wayne Wilson in second and #36 Steve Schroeder in third.

With the rain over South West Florida at the start of the day, one would think we were not going to be able to race, but the skies cleared up, and the fans came out to enjoy another full night of racing at Charlotte County Speedway, home of "Southern Thunder". Thank you to the racers and fans for supporting your local race track. See you there next weekend.
