"The Message Board Saga"

A RACE FAN'S OPINION

by Sharon Fancher

You know I sit here everyday wondering just what possess people to get on a message board and slander children. It is enough that our children in society are dealing with everything that goes on in the world today. I just find it very disturbing that grown adults can show such a manner toward children. We as society should be encouraging our children, and not be making such absurd comments as I have seen in the past few days on the message board. I ask people, "Would you want someone treating your children in such a manner?" Probably not, and I'm sure you would be furious if they did.

I am a Mother of 3 wonderful boy's, and I can't even begin to imagine a person saying to them, " Accept what you get little boy", posted by Watcher. Can someone please tell me what would even make an adult make such a horrendous comment as that? The boy is only 13, and here you have an adult threatening him, to do possible personal injury, or maybe even kill this child or someone else for that fact. A race track or anywhere else is by no means the place to show this type of aggression toward a child.

Have people today forgotten all the family value's that their parents bestowed upon them as children? Situations like these are not pleasant to deal with. Can't people just wake up and realize all the destruction that is already occurring today in society? To make such a threat, especially coming from an adult, I find to be very disgusting. How is this child going to learn anything but anger, if right off the start you have people saying such horrible things? Society unfortunately is what we as adults are going to make it. If constant anger, mental abuse, and revenge are what we teach are children, what do you think they are going to grow up doing? Hurting people of course.

I ask everyone to sit down tonight and hug your children, tell them that you love them and how proud you are that they are a part of your life. Teach them not to pay attention to bad comments that are made against them. Teach them that if you reach for the sky, hard work and detication will get you there. There is no limit as to what you can do if you set out to do it in the right way. Because, you know they may not be here tomorrow. You are only given one chance to raise your children. So people had better do their best why they can. I say do your best Terry #007, and hold you head high!

Sincerely,

Sharon Fancher
