14th Annual Children's Home Fundraiser Halted by Go-Kart Track Owner and State of Florida

by Rick Bristol

Rick BristolOrlando, Fla - Event director Rick Bristol, in tears, announced today that the track where the event was to be held has closed and was red tagged by the state for no insurance.

Rick tried to get a one day insurance deal but the owner's lawyer told him that would not be possilbe. Rick even tried to rent the karts only and try to set up at an asphalt area somewhere but with no luck.

"I am absolutely sick over this. I would have never found out if I had not gone by there. I talked to the track manager 4 weeks ago and every- thing was fine" said Bristol. "I tried several things on short notice to get something put together but all are dead ends" added Bristol.

In just 24 hours Rick Britol had to make a final decision so he may let everyone know that he could. "I will be trying everything to let folks know about this so they do not make the trip for nothing." said Bristol.

"I ask anyone who reads this to spread the news to anyone you think is coming and ask them to call me" stated Rick. His phone numbers are 407-208-0353 work, 407-282-4705 home or 407-497-0448 cell.

"We are going to still try to raise money for the kids by doing raffles this Friday at SpeedWorld and then November 9th at the Governor's Cup at New Smyrna Speedway." "I want to ask that we don't let this stop us from helping the kids, many have raised money for the kids and that was the main goal. I know the enjoyment of the day is gone but the great feeling of giving is still there" said Bristol.

Rick asks that if you raised money for the kids that you still send it in to Childrens Home Fundraiser, 5425 Hermosa St., Orlando, Fl. 32807. Everyone that sends in their money will get a thank you note from the kids at the homes and a 14th Annual t-shirt sent to them.

If you would like to come to the Governor's Cup night at New Smyrna and turn in your money, those who do will be mentioned during the night and the top money raisers will still be given something in special recognition.

"I am so upset about this, 13 years of fun and getting to meet drivers and friends from all over. I have met many new folks this year at the tracks that were coming, I have such a great time doing this event. I hope people know how much I appreciate their help and support over the years," stated Bristol. "All those that donated sponsorship money that money will be used to pay the expenses already acquired, the rest will be splint between the two homes. The raffle prizes that were donated will be used for the raffle at New Smyrna Speedway November 9th "Governor's Cup Night."

"We can still make a great holiday season for the kids at these two homes, but the fun of the event will be so missed" added Bristol. Rick said he will try to find a way to do something next year but said he many have to turn this in to a special race day promotion at the track. "I am so sorry for the inconvenience this will cause for all these great folks. I pray that they understand and will still help me help the kids" said Bristol.

Rick will put out a final press release letting everyone know the final totals that came in and will make sure all those that send in their donations know how much he appreciates them.

Please call Rick for any other details or questions at 407-282-4705 home or 407-497-0448 cell.
