Morgan, Foley Claim Victory at Bronson !

Henault Takes Figure 8 Win

By Rick Warren

The weather conditions were perfect for racing Saturday night at Bronson Motor Speedway. The temperature had cooled off, but the racing was hot ! A good field of Open Wheel Modifieds showed up to race, and the fans were treated to some very exciting racing.

When the green flag flew, Monty Morgan powered the Amsoil / Morgans Garage #46 to the front of the pack, with David Baxley in the H&B Cycle #64 hard on his bumper. The entire field stayed very close for the entire race, with lots of wheel to wheel action. With only a few laps to go, Morgan and Baxley had hard contact coming off the #4 turn, resulting in Baxley going to the rear of the field.

At the restart , Morgan had a new contender to hold off, as Jeremy Gerstner was now knocking on the door , with John Gerstner right behind. The Race ended with Morgan staying out front and claiming the win, followed by both Gerstners, Rick McManaway, and David Baxley working his way back to fifth.

The Mini Stocks were still hot from there big race at the Bronson Speedway last week, and put on a really good race. Clint Foley made up for his bad luck in last weeks race, wasting no time in getting out front of the pack.

Once Foley put the Triple H Chassis #7 in the lead, he ran it hard to stay in front of Tater Stalnaker in the #14 car. The race finished with Foley and Stalnaker finishing 1 and 2 . However , the outcome was not yet official , as Stalnaker filed a protest of Foleys engine. After disassembling the engine for the Tech Inspector to check, it was announced that Foleys motor was legal, and his win stood.

The Wild and Crazy Figure 8 Racers were in action as well, and as usual, put on a very exciting show. The action was non stop, and the outcome not decided until the very last lap. The #25 car of R.Powell and the #48 car of T.Henault battled bumper to bumper, literally, the entire race. They exchanged the lead several times in the race, with Henault getting the win as he and Powell made contact resulting in Powell spinning on the straight, and finishing in fifth.

The Sportsman, Pure stock, and V-8 Bombers were in action, and also providing their share of excitement. In Hobby Stock action, Doc Batson held off a Hard charging Robby Cooper for the win, while in Pure Stock Racing, Mike Baker Came home with the victory. The V-8 Bombers were tamed this week by Larry Welters.

Mark Your Calendars, October 26, Sunoco 100 lap Super late models. This should be a real hum-dinger of a race. There are no conflicting races that week end, and many of the best and brightest of Floridas drivers have already announced their intention to be there. Practice will be Fri. night, Racing on Saturday. The regular Bronson racing series will be in action also. You dont want to miss this one!! See Ya There!
