| "Big Daddy” Dave Pletcher Tops 24 Car Field in AACS | by Rick Anges
 Bradenton,Fl. - Less then a month ago Dave Pletcher was in hospital after suffering chest pains after a race at Sunshine Speedway.
But the Old Man, as he is affectionately called around the State's short tracks, Pletcher showed why is still a force in the Late Model scene taking fast time and leading all 125 laps of race 11 in the All American Challenge Series for the Super Late Models topping a field of 24 cars.
There was a familiar face at the high banks in an unfamiliar ride as Sprint Car Hot Shoe Sport Allen was in the back up ride of Robert Show Time Yoho.
Sport kept the car out of trouble but had to retire early with mechanical problems.
Current points leader Justin Drawdy had his problems and pulled his car into the pits not to return and adding a DNF in race 11. B.J. McLeod also had his share of problems having to go to the pits and never being back in hunt after making it as high as fourth. Joe Boyd also was stuck towards the rear being caught up in some of the late race action.
Several cautions bunched the field up on Pletcher but he was always able to get out to a good jump on the restarts building healthy leads. The 02 of Richard Till had an impressive run getting as high as second and on the bumper of Pletcher several times but the crafty veteran was able to shut the door on him every time.
After a late race caution Travis Kittelson was able to slide by Till and into second. Kittelson used every inch of the race track trying to get by Pletcher but the Old Man was able to hold him off to take his third AACS win of the year. Kittelson got the well deserved second spot, Till was third, fourth was 61 Jimmy Cope and rounding out the top five with an excellent run was the 79 of Clint Slaggy.
Open Wheels
James Glover 20 roared from his seventh starting position to take the win in the Open Wheel Mod feature race. Glover was able to hold off the charge of Jay Coleman 12 who took second, Timmy Moore 57 started 16th and took his machine home third, Fourth was the 42 of Dennis Wilson Jr. and fifth went to Bill Davis 15.
DeSoto Trucks
Racin’ Mason Love 70 visited the DeSoto winners circle again with
good run. Second was 94 Shane Russ, third Brian Donahue 3, forth
Bill Davis 7 and fifth 38 Jim Alterizio.
