FASCAR Returning To Sebring International Raceway

Florida Association of Stock Car Auto Racing (FASCAR) makes its second trip to Sebring International Speedway for the Alan Jay Automotive Network Speedfest presented by APAC on Sept. 28-29.

This is also the fourth Sebring trip for FASCAR promoter Don Nerone formally of Lakeland now of New Smyrna. Nerone is also current race promoter for New Smyrna Speedway and Orlando Speedworld.

Nerone was the first to introduce Late Models to Sebring in 1987 and it was Sebring’s first venture into Late Model race cars.

Joe Nemechek of Lakeland, now a Winston Cup driver, won his first road race ever on the famed track and with Sebring’s inaugural Late Model race victory and he also won the United Stockcar Alliance (USA) championship and Rookie of the Year honors.

The second event was won by USA driver Greg Cecil of Florida in 1988.


Nerone is now again spearheading the FASCAR effort this season. In 2001, it was FASCAR racing with James Powell III winning Super Late Model racing action and also keeping a Florida winner behind the wheel. Also in 2001 in two barrel carburetor racing Bruce Lawrence II was the Late Model winner.

This racing Sept. weekend three FASCAR series race divisions will be in two action-packed days of racing at Sebring.

Races for sports cars, stock cars and trucks highlight this impressive weekend schedule.

The racing will be held around a 1.8 mile modified oval circuit on the legendary Sebring track.

The racing schedule includes FASCAR Sunbelt Super Late Model Series, FASCAR Goodyear Challenge Late Model Series, FASCAR Florida Mini Stock Challenge Series and FASCAR FASTRUCK racing vehicles.

There is also four different Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) events that include Formula Mazda, Spec Racer Ford, Improved Touring and Spec Miata.

In addition, a Saturday evening concert featuring Tanya Lambert and Razin’ Kane adds to the festive atmosphere of this popular family event on Saturday evening from 7:30 p.m. ­ 10:30 p.m. The concert is included with your Superticket, or tickets for the concert only are available $5.00.

Gates open 7 am on Saturday, Sept. 28 (RVs may enter the track beginning Friday).

Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Supertickets are $25 for both days and $15 for Saturday or Sunday only and allow your gate admission and access to all spectator areas including the Competitor Paddock and Pit Boxes. Also included in the ticket price is a Saturday night concert in the pit boxes.

Camping is available beneath the beautiful oak trees or right next to the track! RV passes are $40 for both Friday and Saturday night.
