September 11th, A Day to Remember

by Jane Smith

September 11th, the world stood still for America. People sat in disbelief wondering how did this happen to us.

Not only did the airline business stop all flights but the sports world shut down all events and people sat motionless in front of television sets.

Then we stood up, raised our backs and said "no". This is not the way of the American people.

When you look at the message boards on this site, you can only wonder if September 11th meant anything. Bashing, name-calling, complaining about a sport that means only "fun time" to the American people.

What did September 11th mean to you?

Why is it that instead of looking for the good in a person or a track, that we look only for the bad?

Recently it was brought up to me that I never look for the bad in anyone. Why? Because it is easy to look for the bad and hard to look for the good.

It is very sad in today's world that we cannot find the goodness in people, afterall, we are one big family. We are suppose to love one another and respect one another and yet day after day, you only see bad on message boards.

When September 11th happened, we were stunned. But little by little, we became alive again but instead of learning, we became the same as we were when someone saw our failings. Isn't it time that we look for the good and not the bad in each other?

As you light a candle on September 11th, please try and remember that what is most important to all of us is respect and love for all mankind. That racing is just a "hobby" not your life's work when it is local racing. Words do hurt and the more you hurt, the more you disrespect each other.

Kindness and respect cost nothing. They are gifts that we all can give to each other. On September 11th, try looking for the good in each other and not the bad.

If only for a day, try not to bash, complain, find fault with what brought you all to this site - racing. Let September 11th be a day that we all see how truly lucky we are to have racing as a sport, to be free to do this, and that no matter how much we complain about each other, that our hearts are all in the same place.

On September 11th, our world stood still. On this September 11th, let our world turn in love and goodness.
