Kenny Adams In USCS Winner's Circle at Putnam County Speedway

Satsuma, Fl. - 2000 USCS National champion, Kenny Adams from Malabar, Florida, driving his familiar Got Milk?/ Putnam County Speedway Shaw car # 2a took home the trophy and the $2500 paycheck to go with it in Friday night's 40 lap United Sprint Car Series Summer Nationals main event at Putnam County Speedway.Adams started from the pole position via his win in the 6 lap Airflow Research "Power Dash" composed of the top six cars from Thursday night's main event and led every lap for the big win. In victory lane Adams admitted to making a mistake that changed the complexion of Thursday night's preliminary event and said he was glad that there was nothing but clean racing going on tonight in spite of his Thursday night error that sent race leader Terry Gray, Adams and Marshall Skinner to the rear of the field.

Gray, the USCS "Road to Indy" national points leader, who started 5th and moved into second place on lap 10 in his own Wesmar Engines / J&J Auto Racing familiar # 10, chased Adams thru traffic and pulled close several times but was unable to make the pass. Several cautions, as on the night before when the roles were reversed, pulled Gray up on Adams back bumper. But, just as on the previous night, to no avail.

Jim Raptis from Marietta, Georgia, finished a close third in his best dirt finish of the year. 1999 USCS champion, Marshall Skinner, from West Memphis, Arkansas, finished fourth and USCS rising star Brian Thomas of Auburn, Georgia rounded out the top five.

2000 East Bay Raceway champion, Johnny Gilbertson headed the second five Roland Johnson was seventh, Robert Smith drove, "the best race I've seen him drive", according to USCS announcer, Larry Sams, to finish eighth and 1997 USCS champion, Red Stauffer from Winter Park, Florida, was ninth followed in tenth by the previous night's winner Michael Miller, who was running fourth when he ran out of fuel on the last lap.

Fast time for the evening was Gilbertson at 17:04. The B-main event was won by Marshall Skinner. The evenings Hart Racing top rookie was Ben Basinger from Granite Quarry, North Carolina, who spent most of the main event in the top six before being involved in a first corner tangle with a lapped car and finishing thirteenth.

The evening's Huggins Cams "Hardcharger" award went to Robert Smith and Gilbertson, garnered the Sierra Racing Products "I Got Brakes" award, Johnson received the C&R Racing Radiators, Robert Smith received the Robison Racing Products "Eighth ain't enough" honors and Leaf Racewear product awards went to Miller as well as the Weld Racing Top 10 award.

The next USCS events are this Friday night at Westminster Speedway, Westminster, South Carolina and Saturday night at Silver Eagle Speedway near Augusta, Ga.
