BRONSON MOTOR SPEEDWAY & ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD HOLD PETE ORR NIGHT

BRONSON ON SATURDAY---ORLANDO TONIGHT

Pete Orr is a southern short track racing legend with over 300 wins under his belt. He has worked with some of the best over the years, including Winston Cup great Darrell Waltrip, Gary Balough, race car builder Junior Hanley, and more recently ASA rookie Travis Kittleson. Pete Orr has won almost every major short track stock car event in the southeast including the Florida Governor's Cup which he has won twice.

Pete is still regarded as one of the best short track drivers around. Just recently, Pete Orr has been diagnosed with a treatable form of Cancer. A benefit race at his former race track, Orlando Speedworld, will be held in his honor this Friday, October 5th to raise money for his family during this trying time.

The South 40 Motorsports Classic Auto Racing Series heads to Mike Cope's New Bronson Motor Speedway this Saturday on a night dedicated to veteran Florida racer Pete Orr who is battling a treatable form of cancer.

Several of the South 40 Classics drivers have attended Orr's Winners Circle Racing School and are looking forward to helping raise funds to support Pete and his family while he is unable to work.

New point leader Eddie Thornton will lead a big field of South 40 Classic Cars into the quarter-mile Bronson "Bullring" as the points chase looks to be a two-man race now between Thornton and former point leader Ed Yates.

Thornton won last weeks race at Orlando Speedworld and found himself on top of the points for the first time this year while Yates struggled to a 12th place finish after a controversial call sent him to the rear of the field while he was running in fourth spot.

Danny Shearer's third place finish at Orlando solidified his third place in the point standings but he is some 92 markers behind Yates. Things are tight behind Shearer as Bud Spencer, Jim Rahman and Dan Hammerbeck are all within eleven points of each other.

Al Hagan of Merritt Island continues to lead the FASTWAX Rookie of the Year point standings and is eighth overall.

Action begins at 7PM. Along with the South 40 Classics, the Dwarf Cars will be racing. The Bronson Super Stocks will run a 25-lap feature and there will also be regular racing in the Mini Stocks and Pure Stocks.

TRAVIS KITTLESON RETURNS EARLY FOR BENEFIT
Travis Kittleson has just finished running his last ASA race of the season and is preparing his super late model for this event. When Travis learned of Pete's situation and the race to benefit he and his family, he had to go. Kittleson was planning on returning to Florida next week for the Governor's Cup but will be returning early instead for this event to show his respect for his former crew chief and friend. Good luck Pete! We know you will win this race too!
