BASS AND WILSON BASK IN FASTRUCK LIMELIGHT AT AUBURNDALE
by John Berti

Winter Haven, FL - May 14, 2005 - Sean Bass and David Wilson basked in the FASTRUCK limelight as each took feature event wins in the FASTRUCK Pro and FASTRUCK Kids competition at Auburndale Motor Speedway Saturday night.

Twelve FASTRUCK Kids took time trials with Cody Pitts coming away the fastest with a time of 15.250 seconds for his tour of duty around the 1/4 mile asphalt oval. James Wright III turned in a time of 15.090 seconds to register the quickest time for the FASTRUCK Pro division which put twenty two trucks under the clock.

Each class drew a pill to determine the starting grid. Ironically, the number six pill came up both times inverting the top six qualifiers for each race.

Drew Brannon and Patrick Starpoli led the field around for the start of the 25 lap FASTRUCK Kids feature. Brannon took the immediate lead, but was only able to retain the top spot for one lap when Starpoli, looking to make it three series wins in a row. stormed into the lead.

Meanwhile, David Wilson and Spencer Taylor worked their way by Brannon on lap 2 to move into second and third. Wilson went under Starpoli for first on lap 4 and was never headed the remainder of the way in the race which saw just three caution periods.

Levi Hobbs and John Kidwell progressed into the top six by lap 15. The two battled tooth and nail for the fifth spot until lap 24 when Kidwell made contact with Hobbs sending him around.

At the checkers the top five across the stripe were Wilson, Starpoli, Taylor, Brannon and Kidwell.

When the FASTRUCK Pros took to the speedway for their 50lap feature it was Tom North on the pole with Sean Bass by his side. At the drop of the green it was Bass racing hard into turn one. Despite getting a little out of shape in the middle of turns one and two he gathered the car up coming out of turn two with a car length lead.

Bass was just too much for everyone on this night as he was easily able to pull away from the competition on each restart.

Attention was focused on the race for second between Bobby Owens, Gary Foxworth and James Wright III as they ran under the proverbial blanket. Bad luck felled Owens as on lap 27 his car lost power coming to a halt in turn one. He was done for the night.

The restart had Bass continuing to lead with Foxworth, 2nd; Wright, 3rd; George Gorham, 4th; and George Morales, 5th. There were no changes in the running order up front for the rest of the race with Bass winning by a straight away.
