IT'S TIME TO RACE!!
April 11, 2005
Jefferson Holds off Moore for OWM Win
By Rick Anges

Bradenton, Fl. The field of 20 high powered Q Auto &
Injury Attorney Open Wheel modifieds roared out onto
the track for qualifying for the night’s 100-lap
feature event.

The "Rocketman" Wayne Jefferson edged out Timmy Moore
for the fast time. Jefferson ran a 15.13 to Moore who
ran a 15.15.

The roll of the die sent Jefferson and Moore to the
middle of the field when the field was inverted five
rows. This put Cheat Senogossoff and Billy"the Kid"
Mowery on the front row.

Mowery lead the field out of turn two after the drop
of the green with Senogossoff hot on his tail. The
pack was tight behind them. Jefferson, Moore and Moff
were all maneuvering through the field trying to get
to the front.

An early caution came out for Senogossoff going around
in turn four. That would be one several spins for the
driver of the 61 who after the race said, ""The right
rear just wouldn’t hook up."

It wasn’t long before Moff and the Rocketman came
through and were running first and second
respectively. Moff was on the back bumper of leader
Mowery lap after lap, trying high and low for the
lead.

Moff made his move coming out four trying to go low
when Mowery slammed the door. This forced Moff to get
on the brakes sending him down on the apron of the
race track and as he tried to gather it back up in
turn one the nose of his car caught the tail of
Jefferson who went around in a cloud of smoke.
Jefferson retained his spot on the track with Moff
being sent to the rear. Moff was caught up in a late
race altercation, loosing a tire as he slammed the
front stretch wall giving him a disappointing 13th
place finish.

The final ten laps saw the top three cars, Jefferson,
Moore and Mowery all battling lap after lap. Jefferson
who had spun earlier in the race had his hands full
with Moore right on his back bumper right until the
end.

The crowd was on their feet as Jefferson edged Moore
out to take the win with Mowery right in the fight.

Jefferson claimed the $2,000 prize money, with Moore
taking second. "The car was great tonight I just
couldn’t get around the 1 car," said Timmy Moore.
Mowery came across in third, fourth was Sean
McLaughlin and in fifth "Mopar Missile" Pat Nanney.

T.B.A.R.A. Winged Sprints
David Steele was going for three wins in row at the
"High Banks". But it was David Slawiack who took the
win in the Sprint feature holding off Bo Hartley in
second with Steele finishing third.

International Contractors Street Stocks
Aaron Williams used the outside groove and drove it to
the win in the Street Stock feature, Duane Best used
that same groove to get by brother Jimmie late the
race for second, third was Jimmie Best, fourth was
Greg Krom and David Williamson fifth.

Bombers
John Stewart got the monkey off his back and powered
to the Bomber feature win, Jay King followed across in
second, Dave Davis took third, fourth was Jesse Adair
and in fifth Pete Barr.

NAPA Auto Parts Cowboy Caddies
Matt Wildrick took his first feature win ever in the
Cowboy Caddies edging out his Father Rich Wildrick for
the checkers. In an emotional winners circle interview
a choked up Widlrick said" I’m really proud to see him
take this win. Third was Roger Swinton, fourth was
Shannon Query and in fifth Kenny Gibson.
