Saturday Night Results for Orlando SpeedWorld
|
by Dave Westerman
Beautiful clear skies and cool temperatures greeted drivers, fans and crews for some red-hot racing Saturday night at Orlando Speedworld.
Ron Towles was back in charge of the Mod Lite/Open Wheel Lite cars as the Jacksonville Beach driver took the measure of a strong field. Phil Krauthoff had a good run for second ahead of Nick Shadid and the #0 (driver's name was not given). Todd Diers took the checker in fifth with Jerry Davis, Max Howe, #91 (driver unknown) and Spank McFarland rounding out the top ten.
J.L. Snowden drove his truck-bodied machine to his first career win at Speedworld in the Pro Challenge feature. The race got off to a rocky start as former Series champion Howard Brennan got a different perspective on things as he ended up on his roof on the opening lap. Brennan's car was damaged to the point he was unable to restart.
Snowden led the way for the victory as Mark David picked up the runner-up spot. Brad Sanders was third over David Hall and Sam White. Rounding out the top ten were Tim Hart, Rod Sanders, Mike Lago, Bobby Robillard and Brennan.
Doug Smith was back on top of the Florida Mini Cup Racing Association Pro Division Feature as he took his second win of the year here. Rick Auriemma was second over Rick Blair, Wendy Kash and Frank Pfister. Larry Folino, Ed McKenzie, Heather Suggs and Bryan Ayers completed the top ten.
The Mini Cup Future Stars race was won by Seth Greco over Eric "Little E" Cunningham, Thomas Warnick, Carson Bomar and Derrick Morey.
Josh Williams took his second Bandelero Bandit feature of 2005 topping Gerald White, Jr., Donovan Ponder, Blake Eden, Tyler Rahman, Mark Hooven, and Zach Harris.
Ryan Rust remained undefeated in the Bandelero Young Guns as he took the victory over Dalton Bergman and Jeff Black.
Doug Webb drove his Ford Probe to his second straight Hurricane win. The RE/MAX Legends Cars return to action this week along with the Bandeleros, Hurricanes and Classic Cars.
