Jefferson Caps '03 Season with Big Win
By Rick Anges

Bradenton, Fl. Wayne Jefferson has been a top runner around the state of Florida for many years. This year though "the Rocketman" owned the Open Wheel class winning feature event races at race tracks all across the state and literally dominating the Pyramid Employers Open Wheel Modified series and being crowned the champion for the 2003 season. But Jefferson was not done.

Timmy Moore came out on top of a good field of the top names in the class as the fast qualifier for the 125 lap Florida Open Wheel Modified Race of Champions.

With the inversion of the field Jefferson sat on the point for what would be a caution filled event. Moore ran in the top five for most of the race but mechanical problems dropped him from his chance of winning.

Jefferson led from the drop of the green flag and was never challenged as his capped his season with the win and $3,000 winners share. Second place went to Dwayne "the Iron Man" Dempsey, third was Ralph Bowman, fourth was "the Felda Flash" Lee Collins and rounding out the top five was Joe Winchell.

Street Stocks
The long season for the International Contractors Street Stocks came to a close in a barn burner as Dan Hall made the charge and won the final race of the 03 season for the class, Greg Krom held on to the second position, Tommy Huffstutler took third, fourth was Casey Hall and in the fifth spot was James Knight.

With his third place finish Huffstutler claimed the Street Stock championship. Huffstutler and Hall smoked up the front stretch with their winning runs.

Sportsman
Mark Peterson hit the magic set up and dominated the Sleep Inn Sportsman feature event holding off the charge of the "Junk Yard Dog" Gus Coorsseen who was subbing for Bubba Thompson, third went to Buddy Brown, fourth across the striper was James Casady and in the fifth spot was Aaron Williamson.
