IT'S TIME TO RACE!!
November 23, 2003
Championships on the Line At Chartlotte County
Its down to crunch time in two of the racing divisions at Charlotte County Speedway.

This past Saturday's action sets up showdowns on final points night.

In Sportsman, Punta Gordas Jerry Bryant and Naples Jeremy Goddard entered the 25-lap feature tied for points. Goddard ended up with the win and Bryant ended up the victim of bad racing luck.

Bryant, an early contender in the No. 9 Camaro, was collected in an early wreck and had to pit to re[pair damage. Goddard worked his No. 40 car into contention and got around James DuBose on lap 18.

Now, its Goddard in the drivers seat as far as the points chase is concerned.

The season finale is this coming Saturday.

"I was sorry to see Jerry go out that way", Goddard said. "I wanted him out here".

Ellsworth of North Fort Myers took second and DuBose of Arcadia was third.

Meanwhile in Road Warrior, Chris Oncken of Fort Myers entered Saturday nights action with a 45-point lead on Chris Huntoon of Englewood. Although Huntoon did well with a third-place finish, he didnt pick up many points because Oncken was right behind him in fourth place. Huntoon overcame a flat tire suffered in a wreck on the first lap. His pit crew got her fixed and back out in a hurry.

Winning the 25-lap feature was Bob Waltz Jr. in the 8 ball car. His dad, Bob Sr., caught up to him with five laps to go but somehow never challenged for the lead.

The points chases in three other divisions have already been sewn up. Steve Arnold has won in Limited Late Models. Danny Caylor is the man in Super Stocks. And Garrett is the new champion in Thunder Tricks.

Limited Late Model had a 50-lap feature in preparation for this coming Sunday afternoons Brian Davidson Memorial 150.

Frank Welch of Cape Coral took the checkered flag and received a $500 bonus of top of his winners share because he ran one of the new GM crate motors.

It was the final points race of the season for the Limited Lates.

Richie Anderson was the early leader before slowing and pulling in on lap 10. from there, Al Fradette and Chris Libak held the point until Welch passed the latter on lap 46.

Cory Collum finished second while Fradette took a third.

The Thunder Trucks were scheduled to go 50 laps but were cut to 30 because only seven trucks showed to race. Cheryl Weaver looked like an early force, but a fuel leak forced her to the pits and took her out of the running. Garrett passed Justin Bryant on lap 11 and never looked back. Bryant, who was driving father Jays No. 13 truck, hung on for second. Mike Bialecki, who is selling his truck, finished third.

In Super Stock, Caylor won his fifth straight feature ahead of George Richardson and Elbert Butts. It looked like Butts might have had something for Caylor, but his 31 car spun in the dirt coming out of four on lap 6.

In TD Midgets, Sarasotas Ted Durfee ended a long drought with the W.

In 4-Cylinder Open, Bubba Morrison stayed hot with another checkered. Bobby Fischer was second. In 4-Cylinder Kids, Erik Ludvigsen was the winner. Chris Loney took a second in his first race ever.
