David "Skeeter" Kelly Stings the Stars of the USA Sprints for his 3rd Win
The Thundercross surface was spectacular for the last USA Race of the Year and all the crews were hard at work expecting a semi-hard slick surface for the Feature but mother Nature decided to throw a wrench into the fray with light rain showers just before the cars were staged.
C Roper "The Racin Cowboy" had the pole and was flyin high in the 92 for 3 laps as David "Skeeter" Kelly hooked a anchor to the Tail section of the 92 until a caution flew for Mike Shroeder in the #6 as he hit the backstrecth wall due to a part failure.
After the restart "Skeeter" in the Kellys Trucking Stanton challenged Roper several times but could not make the pass. The 2 drivers started to pull away from the pack. Shortly after another caution came out on lap 10 Roper drove his Jenkins "Hayloft Western Wear Special" to the infield because of mechanical problems.
Kelly inherited the lead and never looked back as he lapped almost the entire field up to the 4th place finisher Shane "WestCoast Flash" Kreider. Andy "Hammer Down" Kelly in his Staggs Tree Service #11 and "Tiny Tim" George driving the #1 Venice Wrecker 2003 Shaw were having a fierce battle and traded positions back and forth several times.
The #52 Krediler was trying every move in the book to get around both George and Kelly as the 2 were waging a tough battle with neither of the 3 drivers giving an inch. As the race came down to the checkers the 3 racers would finished under a blanket just that way after trading spots back and forth.
Last Years Champ Tony "Wildman" Pinero was running his own race in 5th and was followed to the line by Travis Bleimiester 6th in the 3b and John "Party Time" Cinkota in the #45 Gambler coming home 7th.
Joe "Lil Big Horn" from Colorado was piloting a brand new #22 Budweiser Car but was not accustomed to the unusal Thundercross Line finished 8th. The Car looked great and the Horn was starting to come on at the end after settling into a pace and a torrid battle with Shaun "Zippy" Namour in the Moblie1 Gambler #10n who followed Horn to the flag in 9th.Posting his first Top 10 was Venices own Joe Wengard in the former Tim Greorge Shaw Racing Sprinter #9.
