IT'S TIME TO RACE!!

Dale Clouser Wins Sportsman 50 Lapper at Orlando SpeedWorld
by Jane Smith

Bithlo, Fla. (October 10, 2003) Pro Street Nationals on the right of us, motorbikes a buzzing on the left of us and stockcars racing in front of us. That was what fans were greeted to last night at Orlando SpeedWorld. The sweet sounds of drag, round track and motor cross.

Richard Hight had the pole for the Sportsman 50 lapper and quickly jumped to the lead but before a lap was down, the race was restarted due to the bad start. On the second start it was Hight once again to the lead followed by Dale Clouser.

The caution came out early in the race for Danny Shearer, Michael Carr, and David Lebeau when they all tangled in turns 1 and 2. On the restart, Dale Clouser jumped to the lead followed by Hight, Donnie Smith, Earl Beckner and Ted Head.

Bob Hart, nice new car, and Tony Wilson brought out the second caution when Wilson touched Hart and sent Hart spinning down the frontstretch. Hart and Wilson rejoined the field in the rear and just before the green waved, the black was thrown for Richard Hight who was leaking some kind of fluid in his rear-end. Hight ran into the pits for his crews attention and came back out but ended up retiring shortly from the race.

Clouser holds the point on the restart followed by Beckner, Smith, Head and Justin Hall. Suddenly Beckner begins to slow and pulls out of the race with Smith moving into second followed by Head, Justin Hall and Spencer Lemmerman.

Cory Kaiser brought out the yellow when he spun at the bottom of turn 2 Clouser holds the point on the restart. While running sixth, Michael Carr dusts the inside turn 2 wall and continues for another lap but must withdraw after a very good run. Tony Wilson gets really squirelly but does a very good job of holding the car and not causing a caution or any unnecessary damage to his Sportsman.

Clouser takes the checkered followed by Donnie Smith, Ted Head, Justin Hall and Spencer Lemmerman.

The Sportsman had no heat race.

Chad Akins had the pole for the Bandolero Bandits and as they say, "lead from
green to checkered". The biggest battle was for third place between Derrick Wood and Josh Williams. Eventually Williams would win and Wood would finish fourth. Akins took the checkered followed by Gerald White Jr., Josh Williams, Derrick Wood and Blake Eden.

Chad Akins took the heat win.

Brandon Thomson lead the way for the Bandolero Young Guns. Thomson sat on the pole and won from the pole followed by Kevin Henry, Scott Jarrett, Chelesa Schilling and Jessica Murphy.

Brandon Thomson took the heat win.

Jeff Colburn had the pole for the Super Stock feature and was able to keep his No. 3 Super Stock up front and take the win. Following Colburn on the green was Bob Beiler, Ron Edwards, Bobby Woodley, and John Castro.

No cautions were thrown but Woodley and Mike Soukup did get together on the backstretch but both were able to get their cars headed the right direction before a caution was thrown however it threw both cars out of the lead pack for the win.

Colburn takes the checkered, he was practicing for next weekend's Super Stock 50 lapper at SpeedWorld, followed by Bob Beiler, John Castro, Andy Nichols and Cory Freed.

Jeff Colburn and Bob Beiler took the heat wins.

Glen Bradley had the pole for the Open Wheel Modifieds and took the lead on the green followed by Shane Held, Lynn Dicandio, Matt Wheeler, and Jimmy Winks Bradley spins while leading giving the lead over to Shane Held.

Held holds on and takes the checkered followed by Matt Wheeler, Lynn Dicandio, Jimmy Winks and Glen Bradley.

Shane Held won the heat race.

Tommy Jordon had the pole for the Legends feature race and quickly jumped to the lead on the green followed by Patrick Conrad, Sam Watts, Bernie Albert, and A.J. Falgenzie.

Jordan found himself going nose to tail with Conrad and Watts with Conrad finally take over the lead and Jordan falling to second. Watts at one point passed Jordan and took over third but Jordan came back and retook the second spot putting Watts back to third.

Conrad takes the checkered followed by Tommy Jordon, Same Watts, Bernie Albert, and Jeff Johnson.

Tommy Jordon won the heat race.

Michael Seay had the pole for the Mini Stock division and quickly jumped to the lead on the green followed by Dick Laszlo, Randy Blakeslee, Tim "Missileman" McPhail and Terry Westcott.

McPhail moves up fast taking over the second spot with Westcott moving into third followed by Delmastro and Dick Laszlo. Seay gets very squirelly and does a terrific job of saving the car as McPhail takes over the lead.

McPhail takes the checkered followed by Terry Westcott, Dick Laszlo, Randy Blakeslee, and Bob Delmastro.

Terry Westcott took the heat win.

Rick Bates had the pole for the Super Late Model feature but it was the No. 02 of Bo Jackson who quickly jumped to the lead on the green followed by Rusty Ebersole, Rick Bates, Eric Deffendall, and Ronnie Roach. Ebersole passes Jackson and takes over the point with Jackson sliding back to second.

Mario Hernandez brought out the caution when he spun on the frontstretch. Ebersole holds the point on the restart when coming around Jackson hits the turn 2 wall hard. Jackson is fine but his car needs some TLC. The race is red flagged due to the fluids on the track.

Ebersole holds the point on the restart followed by Ronnie Roach, B.J. McLeod, Eric Deffendall, and Rick Bates and all five crossed the checkered in the same order.

Ronnie Roach took the heat win.

The Strictly Stock class was divided into 8 cylinder and 4 cylinder last night with Richie Laszlo taking the win in the 8 cylinder division.

The 4 cylinder division (Hurricanes) saw the #88 on the pole and winning from the pole followed by #70, #33 Big Steve, #80 and #68. Names will be available next weekend.

Next Friday night at Orlando SpeedWorld, 50 laps of Super Stock action.
