Gary Padula Wins Late Model at Hialeah
by Marty Little

HIALEAH, Fla. - Gary Padula took the lead when Joe Winchell's car failed on lap eight and went on to score the victory in the 25 lap Late Model Sportsman headliner at Hialeah Speedway Saturday night.
Winchell got the jump on the start and began to pull away before the rear gears in his potent Chevrolet failed, handing the top spot to Padula. Padula claimed his fifth trophy of the season ahead of arch-rival Danny Maddox, Gary McGoron, and Ray Derry.

Street stock points leader aided his own cause as he led wire to wire for the win in the 25 lap run. Tony Barreca notched a runner-up finish over Travis McCoy, Jake Reedy and Stuart Robertson.

S.C. Klinger, Mini Stock point leader and division dominator this season, racked up his 12th win of the current campaign with an easy victory in the 15 lap event. Bill Calder ran his Mustang to second over Eli Pollard and Greg Millard.

Youngster David Dielmann nabbed his first career Cyclone division victory with a spirited drive in the 25 lap contest. Victor Leo took second money ahead of Al Grimm, George Morales and Donald Economy.
Caesar Bacarella was the best of the Super Mini Cups for the third time this season with Eryk Hardwick, Carlos Gonzales, Brett Jameson and Justin Laird next to the stripe in the 15 lapper.

Three specialty events for the Cyclone cars saw Eddie Lawler top Leo and Bob Regula in the Figure 8 race while Phil Peterson topped the exciting Tire Race in front of John Pettit and Leo. Dielmann scored in the Road Race over Lawler and Leo and Morales topped the school bus Figure 8 thriller ahead of Regula and T.C. McElyea.
