Mother Nature Wins Two in a Row at New Smyrna Speedway

Samsula, Fla (June 28, 2003) Just as the Florida Mini Stock Challenge racers began to qualify for their 50 lap event, sprinkles gently touched the windshields. Then sprinkles turned into big drops of water and within minutes the track was flooded, the pits were flooded, and cars were packing up as fast as possible in the down pouring rain.

For the second week in a row, Mother Nature took the win in all heats and races. The TBARA Winged Sprints made their second attempt to race the high banks of New Smyrna Speedway. "Wild Child" was ready and all geared to flag but this was not to happen, not this weekend.

The TBARA Winged Sprints have a full calendar with no reschedule dates available but they will return to New Smyrna in September. The Florida Mni Stock Challenge reschedule date is not known yet but will be announced shortly.

On Thursday, July 3rd, New Smyrna Speedway will hold the Clyde Hart Memorial Sunbelt 125 lap race. This race honors Clyde Hart who loved his speedways and racers. Also on the program is Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Strictly Stock. And there will be a Kids Bike Race at 7:00 p.m. before the races so kids bring your bikes.

Pit gates will open at noon on Thursday with racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m. Grandstands will be $15.00, pits $25.00. New Smyrna Speedway is located between SR44 and SR417 between I-4 and I-95 eight miles west of New Smyrna Beach in beautiful Samsula, Florida.
