Michael Lloyd takes NLMS Win at Columbia Motorsports Park
by Marty Little
LAKE CITY, Fla. - Sometimes being lucky is better than being good and luck is what gave Michael Lloyd the win in the 50 lap National Late Model Series for dirt late models on the pavement of Columbia Motorsports Park Saturday night.

Running their second asphalt event in as many nights, the Georgia- based dirt track invaders had asphalt convert Jimmy Britts at the front of the 22 car field from the outset and he never looked back enroute to the apparent victory. Stacy Roberts and David Clegg staged a fantastic duel behind Lloyd and it was Lloyd who crossed the stripe second with Roberts third. Post-race tech found a problems with Britts' engine and his efforts were for naught with Lloyd gaining the win without leading a single lap of the featrue event. Roberts was credited with second ahead of Clegg, Tal Etheridge, and Skip Pannell. The second five consisted of Gene Ross, Patrick Sheltra, Johnny Collins, Jay Carpenter and Cecil Eunice.

The 20 lap run for the Florida Modifieds saw Jason Garver the victor ahead of Greg Nordstrom and Scott Millar.

Ray Wheeler extended his street stock win streak to three straight as he topped Dave Barber, J.F. McClellan, Al Nichols and Bryan Wheeler in the 25 lap event.

Pure stock dominator Marty Wood chalked up another score for the entry level racers as he easily topped Russell Patterson, John Roling, Ronnie Cook and Wesley Keller in the 20 lap run.
