Ammerman Wins Street Stock Feature at Hialeah Speedway
by Marty Little

HIALEAH, Fla. - Ken Ammerman took advantage of his front row starting position and led all 25 laps to claim his first victory of the season in the street stock feature Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.

Ammerman kept his Camaro on the point despite some heavy challenges from Joe Winchell, who was making his first start in a Dodge pickup truck. Greg Gorniak checkered third ahead of T.C. McElyea and Chad Rutherford.

Mini stock points leader Peter Lloyd aided his own cause with his second score of the young season in the 25 lap main. Fellow Toyota driver S.C. Klinger never let Lloyd relax and finished second over Bill Calder's battered Mustang, Tommy Styer and Jim Miner.

Eddie Lawler, a graduate of the enduro ranks, continues to improve weekly and hustled his big Chevy Impala to his first career cyclone victory. Veteran Tony Crowder appeared headed for his first checker of the year but a flat tire slowed him in the closing laps as Lawler took the lead on lap 23 and never looked back. Crowder, Chris Stockton, Mike Powers and Darrel Clark completed the top five in the 25 lap contest.

Brett Jameson continued his domination of the Super Mini Cup division with his second victory in as many starts for the class. Veteran Doug Capps paced Lloyd, Caesar Bacarella and Carlos Gonzalez to the line in the pint sized cars.

The special tire race fell to Lynn Reid over Lawler and Gabe Hernandez.
