Klinger Takes Mini Stock Win at Hialeah Speedway
by Marty Little

HIALEAH, Fla. - After battling mechanical woes for the first month of the season, former mini stock champion S.C. Klinger had a stern chat with his Toyota and together they raced to victory in the 25 lap small car feature Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.

Klinger has not competed weekly here for several seasons but he's back in the groove for 2003 and made the score ahead of point leader David Russell, Peter Lloyd, Bill Calder and Jim Miner.

The visiting Outlaw Modified tour saw defending champion Ted Hoverson lead wire to wire for his first main event checker of the season. Point leader Raymond Jones came from deep in the 18 car field for runner-up honors ahead of Bobby Dayton, Kelly Curl and Mike Kohut.

Rookie Darrel Clark scored a wire to wire victory in the first of two 25 lap cyclone races. Clark paced the 37 car field over Lynn Reid, Steve Dielmann, Roger Bohannon and Mike Powers.

The second 25 lap run fell to Bohannon as he used the outside lane enroute to the front with Powers in his shadow. Kirk Demyan, Corey Certain and George Morales rounded out the top five runners.

John Bentley won the abreviated 10 lap street stock main in front of Ken Ammerman and Sean Bulaskas.
