Weather Postpones Ocala Open Practice and Open House for Media
by Dave Westerman Ocala, Fla. - Heavy morning rain and wet grounds from Saturday's downpours have forced Ocala Speedway track officials to postpone Sunday's open practice and media day until Tuesday evening.
Gates will open Tuesday at 5PM with practice scheduled from 6-9PM and good weather is forecast. As was planned for Sunday, all drivers will be admitted free while all others wishing to go in the pits will pay a fee of $10. There is no charge to watch practice from the new grandstands. Ruben's Tex Mex Grill will also be on hand to debut the track's new concession menu.
"If anything, it will give the drivers an opportunity to practice under the new track lights," says Track Manager Tim Christman. "The new lights, new fence and the changes outside the track in turn four give a whole new perspective on how you run around this track," he said.
In addition, Ocala Speedway will be open for a final "last chance" practice and race car safety inspection on Wednesday evening too.
Ocala Speedway will open its 51st season of racing Friday night starting at 8PM. The weather forecast call for partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 70's at race time. All six of Ocala Speedway's regular divisions will be in action including the Steven A. Bagen Personal Injury and Accident Attorneys Super Late Models, WIND-FM Open Wheel Modifieds, Diamond H Air and Heat Sportsman, K Country Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Four Cylinder Stocks.
