Kenny Adams Takes USCS Win Number 23 at East Bay

(Tampa, FL; 11/3/2000) Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL gave the fans at his home track of East Bay Raceway a taste of the way he has dominated the United Sprint Car Series during the Thunder Tour 2000.

Adams however did not have a cakewalk as young Michael Smith of Gibsonton, who was on a roll having won 2 out of his last 6 races, took the lead on the drop of the green. Smith had his hands full holding off first Jason Sides of Bartlett, TN and then Adams before being caught and passed by Adams in turn one on lap 18. Adams then stretched the lead, before adding victory number 23 of the season to his season U.S.C.S. total.

The win was especially satisfying to Adams as most of his major sponsors were on hand to watch the victory including the owners of Got Milk?, C&B Mushrooms, A&B Auto, and Shaw Chassis. Adams also credits much of his success to his teammate, Red Stauffer of Winter Park, FL, and to the crew members who have the level of knowledge to make the right decisions in tire selection and chasssis set-up.

Smith continued to hold off Sides for the final twelve laps to claim the second spot followed by Sides in third and Lance Deweese of Fayetteville, PA in fourth. Rounding out the top five was Greg Wilson of Benton Ridge, OH. Sixth through tenth went to Robbie Smith of Tampa; John Bankston of Beaumont, TX in seventh; Sport Allen of Pinellas Park in eighth; Stauffer in ninth; and Greg Leonard of Apollo Beach in tenth. The Huggins Cams Hard Charger Award went to Robbie Smith. C&R Racing Radiators awards went to John Bankston and Casey Johnson. The Weld Wheels Award was won by Greg Leonard. Adams won the Shaw Racing Products $250 award and Michael Smith took the Shaw $150 award.
