Scott Lagasse, Jr. Comes From Rear To Claim Late Model Win

(St. Augustine, FL; 10/7/2000) Scott Lagasse, Jr. overcame a spin on lap 3 and going to the tail to win the 35-lap Late Model feature, Saturday night. Lagasse and Mike Williams tangled in turn two sending both to the rear of the field. Also involved was Jody Turner, who couldn't continue and Larry O'Steen. O'Steen followed Lagasse back up through the field to finish second.

Tattoo Dee's Old Rooster Mini-Stocks had Troy Kruse start on the pole and never look back. Kruse led every lap of the new format of 25 laps for Mini-Stocks to take the checkers. The car was protested, and as of this writing no information on the results.

Les "Senior Chief" Burl out lasted the rest of the Thunder Trucks to claim the victory. Burl, who flies from New Orleans, LA every week to race, took over the lead after Wade Lynn and Robert Gorman bumped on the front stretch. The bump sent Lynn to the pits with a flat, and allowed Burl to pass Gorman for the lead.

"BO" Allen used his pole position to get the lead in the Sportsman division feature. Allen was able to hold off 2000 Division Champion, Todd "Secret Agent" Ponce and Jason Garver to win the 30-lap feature. Ponce and Garver finished in that order.

Hobby Stocks saw Brad Pilinko, choose to start on the tail, come through the field in the 25-lap feature to take the win. Chasing Pilinko was Chris Manucy who just couldn't get around Pilinko. Jody Stratton finished third. Pilinko also survived a post race protest.

Last but not least Rick's Muffler Man Modifieds, had Chuck Cumby lead all 30 laps of the main event. Cumby was not challenged heavy in the event.

Next Saturday is the last race of the season and will be triple points. This is to makeup for the rainouts. Pit gates will open at 1pm with practice from 2 - 4 pm. Grandstands gates open at 5 pm. Features start at 8:00 pm. For further information call the track at (904) 825-2886.
