Marty Pierce Earns 12th Victory in New Smyrna Mini-Stocks

Super Late Model 50 Lap Special had Michael Williams putting his #40 Interstate Battery/South 40 Motorsports Chevy on the pole by besting the field in qualifying. Many fans thought David Rogers #11 TM Ranch Dodge would give Michael a challenge, but the #11 fell out with problems. Michael led every lap and took home the well deserved and popular win. Barry Willoughby drove a smart race, and finished second in the #74 Pennzoil Monte Carlo. Ronnie Roach started shotgun after clutch problems, and ran a great race for a third. Mike Good returned from a spin to get a strong fourth in the Briar Construction gang #27. Sammy Grahams #1 came in fifth.

Modified Track record holder, Mike Fritts, easily drove the Korpe/Walker #112 to victory over a full field of ground pounding Mods. Mark Vandevender's Document Tech #7 looked strong as he bested the #5 of Jon Compagnone the #32 SEANCO Trucking Cavalier of Tim Laurent, and the #16 of Justin Henderson. Brad Bascom's dad gave the fans some great AM 540 T-shirts and toys. (12 cars in the field).

Mini-stocker Marty Pierces #75 BBM Mustang dispelled any doubt that he has a winning car as he earned his 12th victory of the 2000 season. Ron Dubeau's #94 Silver Mustang also was strong as he clinched second over the #38 of last weeks winner Eric Powell from Windermere FL who drove to his first victory in only 7 starts. J. D. Duncan again drove the #37 to a real clean fourth place finish. Rex Christensen in the SMART V-3 was fifth.

Bob Andrechecks #90 KOA/ US Marines Camaro was back after last week's win to again dominate the Sportsman field. The #27 of Bobby Lee Good crossed the line second, but was DQed for a procedural violation. Doug Samion was paid for second in the Rinaldis #04. Steve Redditt in the #1 Blue Pontiac Gran Prix had a good run for third. Ron Lufcys #07 came away with fourth over the Tazmanian Devil ONO, Jeff Miller.

It is a regular thing, a huge field and a crowd favorite class in the Super Stock class. Jim Wintersteins #13 Olds on the feature and added to his points lead as he crushed the competition. The #14 of "Father of The Year" Kevin Schultz looked like he might have something for the 13, but settled for second. Ed "High Side" Zikowski #7 added a new sponsor to the Barneys Leather/Tropical Tattoo Chevy and charged on the top side to third over the #45 of Mike Soukup. Chris "Wild Man" Pelidats was fifth in the #28.

Strickly Stocker Kerry "2 Barrel" Payne beat a huge field of racers to get another feature win. In the #11X. Stephan Dembinsky was second in the #1, Richard Boulton ran third, over Russ Rinaldi and Richard Boulton II.

The MATTRESS RACE is coming up this Saturday. I just dont know what to say about that! THIS IS THE UNKNOWN AND A RACE FOR FUN...COME JOIN IN! BRING A MATTRESS TO THE FRONT (GRANDSTAND) GATE AND RECEIVE GENERAL ADMISSION "FREE".
