The "King" 2 for 2 weekend wins at Hialeah

HIALEAH, Fla. - The once featured late model cars made their first appearance of the season at Hialeah Speedway Saturday night and it was long time favorite Dick Anderson claiming the win in the Accessory World/Bill Flingos Memorial 50 lap event. Starting sixth in the 15-car field, Anderson seemed hopelessly out of contention as outside front row starter Joe Winchell blasted into the lead at the drop of the green flag and drove away from the field. A spin by Steve Weaver, Jr on lap 44 restacked the field and Anderson now had a chance. Stalking Winchell's every move, Anderson alertly drove to the lead on the restart when the leader's brake pedal went to the floor in turn one and the route was on. Anderson crossed the stripe for the win, his second in as many nights, over Winchell, fast qualifier James Powell III, Mike Franklin, Jr and Glenn Whitney.

Street stock points leader Chalo DeCastro added his second win of the season when apparent winner Jake Reedy fell out in the late laps. Trailing DeCastro's Camaro were Steve Godlewski, Mike Orth, Rick Lutz and Gary Padula. David Russell made it mini stock win number 10 for the season with a narrow win over arch-rival Tim Jones in the 25 lap run. Kenny Strong, Steve Quick and Bob Goode followed. Heather Lunsford garnered her first cyclone win of the season with a dominant run over Rick Lenhardt, Jeff Brown, Mike Powers and Gabe Hernandez in the best race of the evening. Other winners were Robert Crum in the pure stocks, Doug Capps in the mini cup cars and the special 10 lap kids race fell to 13-year-old Kelsey Reid.
