Mother Nature Wins Again at Charlotte

(Punta Gorda, FL; 7/29/2000) For the first time in several weeks, race fans were treated to clear afternoon skies at Charlotte County Speedway on July 29. However, the skies burst with rain before the sun had a chance to set over the Speedway and rain out most of the evening's racing program.

Before the rain hit several heat races were run including the Big Wheels Mini-Stocks where the winners were Marshall Parr (North Fort Myers) and Doug Wilson (Cape Coral). In the Cowboy Cadillacs, Don Vanacker (Punta Gorda) was the heat winner. In the Marlow-Werner Sportsman Buzz Martin (Lehigh Acres) and Doug Henry took home heat wins.

The third leg of the Budweiser Open-Wheel Modified 6-Pack Series takes place on August 5. Charlotte County Speedway is located at 8655 Piper Road, I-75 exit 28, and follow the Charlotte County. Airport signs. Gates open at 4 p.m. and qualifying begins at 6 p.m.
